The sun beat down on your skin as you stood under the flow of water. There was a large contrast between the heat coming from the sun, and the cold water falling over your body.

Being stranded on an island was horrific and by no means enjoyable, but after Kate and Sawyer found the waterfall it made it a bit better.

It was so much easier to wash, and it was just pleasant to block out the world and feel at peace, rather than just worrying about everything that was happening right now.

Another bonus about it was that very few people came here seen as not a lot of people even knew about it. Seen as there weren't many people here, you and Kate would take a break from everyone and just go to the waterfall.

You two had known each other off of the island, but spent much time apart, being reunited on Oceanic 815.

You had a fleeting romance many years prior but even with both of your pasts being dim and horrific, you were happy together once again. You turned around in the water flow to look at the brunette that was stood by your side.

Her hair was clinging to her neck and shoulders and she stepped out of the direct water flow. She grabbed hold of your hands pulling you away from the flowing water. In her pulling you along with slippery rocks, you lost your balance falling off of the ledge into the pool of water below, but with you clinging onto her, you pulled her down with you.

Both of you collided with water, swimming up to the surface. She smiled at you pulling you closer to her.

"You alright?" She questioned pushing your wet hair from you face.

"Yeah, are you okay?"

She nodded.

Still treading water, she laced one of her hands with your hair pressing her lips to yours. As she pulled away, her smile grew.

"Gosh, I love you," she whispered.

She had said it before, but never in such a tone before, never holding so much love and passion.

"I love you too Kate," you smiled, leaning in to peck her lips again.

"Why?"

You furrowed your eyebrows confused as to what she meant.

"Pardon?" You frowned, "What do you mean, why?"

"I mean why would you love me? You know what I've done, yet you seem not to care," she sighed.

"I knew you before all of that. And really whatever happened off of the island doesn't matter, we are trapped in the middle of nowhere. It doesn't matter if you committed a crime or won a noble prize we are all equally lost," you shrugged, "And why wouldn't I love someone as amazing as you?"

She smiled kissing you again.
