No one's shelters were the best, too bad an architect hadn't been in the plane, it probably would have helped. The tarp that covered yours and Charlie's shelter was thrown up so that you could see out onto the beach to see all the other survivors sitting around doing their own thing. Charlie was playing his guitar whilst lying on the make shift bed whilst you read one of the books you had managed to borrow from Sawyer.

The two of you were lost in your own interests and were only knocked out of that focus when you heard someone clear their voice next to you.

You looked up from the book to see Claire stood in front of you, holding baby Aaron. Her eyes were bloodshot and had large bags underneath them. It wasn't easy being a new mother, especially when you were trapped on a desert island without any real help other than the others from fellow stranded people.

"Hi Claire," you smiled putting your book down beside you as Charlie stopped playing his guitar.

"Can I ask you a favour Y/N?" She smiled softly.

"Of course."

She let out a little sigh. "I haven't slept much since Aaron was born, and it's getting too much. Could you watch Aaron for a couple of hours so that I can get a nap?"

You went to say that you could, but Charlie interjected with a loud and obnoxious scoff.

"Why did you ask her? I can watch him," he stated.

Claire paused for a moment. "Oh... um... I just thought that you'd be busy, and Y/N seemed to be good with Aaron and I didn't really know who to ask."

"And you're choosing her?" Charlie scoffed.

"Um... yes..."

Although you and Charlie were terribly close, you did compete over practically everything out of principle.

"But she is irresponsible, she can't even walk without tripping, what makes you think she wouldn't drop him?" Charlie spat.

"Says you, who'd want to leave a baby with someone that solely calls him turnip head," you retorted.

Claire stood there looking awkward as the two of you threw insults back and forth. She finally built up the courage to cut off the argument.

"I'm sorry, I'll just ask Kate."

With that she walked off leaving the two of you alone.

"To be honest that was probably a smart choice," Charlie smiled.

"Yeah, neither of us are the most equipped to babysit."
