Surviving the crash on a deserted island was surprisingly the most normal aspect since the plane crash. There was some creature lurking in the jungle, and none of you particularly wanted to find out what it was. Along with that there were people living here, people here before you had crashed, not only a woman whom had been shipped wrecked here sixteen years ago, as well more people whom you had no idea about but they seemed far from friendly with their threats and horrific actions. But to take the biscuit your group had found a hatch and inside was a single man whom had been living there for quite some time.
Rightfully your group were apprehensive about him, but from what you had seen of him, there was no reason to be concerned.
You were all taking turns keeping an eye on him until you truly knew what the hatch was for. Mainly it was the guys that took guard but you wanted to play your part, and also make sure that the poor man realised he wasn't a prisoner.
Before you headed down, you grabbed some tea that your group (well it was mainly Sun seen as she had grown pretty much everything and it did make semi-decent tea) had developed and carried two cups down to the hatch.
Jack was currently on watch, sat in the desk chair whilst the poor man looked bored out of his mind sat on the bunk bed unable to do anything without being considered a threat. It took a bit of convincing but you finally got Jack to leave you two alone so that you could talk to the man they had pretty much taken prisoner.
You smiled warmly at the man offering him the mug of tea. He took it but looked at it concerned by what you had handed him.
"I'm not trying to poison you. It's safe. I'm sorry for how they have treated you," you said softly.
"Thank you," he said in a near whisper sipping the tea.
"You're welcome," you smiled. You held out your hand as he lowered his mug. "I'm Y/N."
He took a second to think about it before he shook your hand. "Desmond."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"How long have you been here?" You asked taking a sip of your tea.
He raised his head slightly as he tried to think about his time stuck on the island. He looked slightly confused as he tried to think.
"Too long," he sighed.
It wasn't an accurate response but good enough. Rightfully he seemed sad, everything anyone on the island was going through was pretty shit and Desmond had been forced to experience a bit more crap than the rest of you.
"It'll be okay Desmond. We're trying to find a way to get off the island. And I don't know how long it will take us but we will get off the island. In the meantime, you aren't alone anymore. You have all of us here too now, which with how they've all introduced themselves probably isn't for the best, but it's better than being alone," you said softly reaching your hand out to pat his knee reassuringly.
"Thank you," he smiled warmly.
