Shannon moved her hand away from her abdomen, coated in her blood. She looked at you with pleading eyes as her knees buckled, her weight falling to the ground. You instantly lunged at her, helping scoop her up from her slump to hold her in your lap. You cradled her as she begun to sob, curling into you. You rocked her gently, kissing her forehead. It was clear that she was terrified, the loud bang had likely been from a gun and she was now bleeding out of her stomach due to the bullet entering there. Even though she was scared, you were too but had to hide it from her so that you could help calm her down. Without Jack there, and not being able to return to her, you feared there wasn't anything you could do for her.

"Y/N," she croaked through her tears, her eyes desperate and fearful.

"Don't speak, it's okay," you whispered. "You need to save your energy, it's going to be okay."

There was no certainty in your speech. You didn't believe that she would be okay, you were almost certain she wasn't going to be, but if you were about to lose the woman that you loved then you were going to do everything you could to make sure she was comfortable as she did so.

"I love you," she whispered, attempting to raise her hand to your cheek, but your stopped her, lacing your fingers with hers, not caring about the blood that was transferred to them.

"Please Shan, you need to keep your strength. I love you too Shannon," you smiled softly, trying your best not to cry.

She nodded her head weakly, struggling to gasp for air. There was little you could do as the tears broke from your eyes and trailed down your cheeks. Your hand brushed through her dirty blonde hair, assuring her how much you loved her and that everything was going to be okay. With one finally shaky breath, her eyes drooped, and her body became limp in your arms. A wail escaped you as you held her tightly to you, hoping that with sheer willpower you would be able to bring her back to you.

"Shannon," you whispered, pain laced in your words.

Out of the overgrowth came footsteps but you couldn't bear look up at whatever it was too caught up in the emotions racing through you and the loss your heart felt.
