I sat at my desk, typing up a document for homework that was due in two weeks. Why work on it now when I have 2 weeks to do it? I want to spend my winter break with my family and have no homework to do, and if I must work into the next morning to do it, I will. A knock on my door brought my eyes away from the bright computer screen and to my open bedroom door, showing big brother Xander there in the doorway with a mug of hot chocolate in his hands. I smiled at him as he walked towards me and placed the mug on my desk as he sat with me, laying his head on my shoulder. He closed his eyes and mumbled "(Y/N)... get off the computer and hang out with us. It doesn't feel right without you in the living room with your head in Elise's lap." I laid my head against his and mumbled "but Xander, I need to get this done before the end of winter break! I might as well do it all now and get it over with." Xander sighed but made no move to get up "then I'll stay here with you and be your emotional support until it's done." A soft smile danced on my lips and I placed my hand in his as I worked with one hand. Leo has done this with me countless of times, so I was used to doing this one-handed. It was 3 hours of me groaning of how the document didn't sound right or like it and I think I cried over 5 times, but I got it done in those 3 hours. Xander was fast asleep on my shoulder and I closed my eyes to do the same after I sent my work to my teacher through email... until a knock on the door brought me to look over. Leo and Elise stood at the door, and I beckoned them over with a wave of my hand. Elise climbed into my bed and Leo stood next to me, then asked, "did you get it done?" I nodded, and Leo helped me wake Xander, then brought him to his room to sleep. I returned to my room where Leo and Elise were in bed waiting for me. I climbed into bed, and moved to the middle so both could lay with me. Leo got in quietly so he wouldn't wake our older siblings and snuggled up to my side with his head buried in my neck, and Elise climbed in on the other side and wrapped her arms around me as she fell asleep. I fell asleep soon after, exhaustion hitting me like a sack of potatoes.
Waking up and realizing I had the whole next two weeks to myself felt really odd. For one, I had the whole day to marathon video-games with Elise, and I can finally help Xander in the kitchen to make dinner. I climbed out of bed and snuck out downstairs where Xander was drinking coffee in the banquet hall. Xander noticed me and patted his lap, a simple gesture that I didn't quite understand. So I sat on his lap upon verbal request, and Xander chuckled as he ran his fingers through my hair "good morning, (Y/N). I see your up and at it. How are you feeling this morning?" I leaned my head against his shoulder and mumbled "I'm not used to waking up early... the sun hurts my eyes..." Xander chuckled and pressed a kiss to my hair "yeah, the sun hurts my eyes too, little princess. It's going to rain today, but not pour down rain like it usually does. You know what to wear in those conditions, so just a heads up if you decide to go outside." I nodded and let Xander tell me the plans he had for us over winter break, smiling as everyone came down for breakfast. Once breakfast was over, I went upstairs and got a short sleeve shirt with skinny jeans and got my rain boots on, then went out onto the balcony connected to my room. The rain was coming down gently, and I got a towel so I could sit. The rain hit my head as I stared out at the countryside below, and I closed my eyes and let the rain soak through. It calmed me down, honestly. A pressure was on my shoulder a few moments later and I wrapped my arms around my companion, giving them the go to lay on me. I opened one eye and smiled down at Leo who was flush against me with a big towel blanketing him, and went back to having my eyes closed. I felt Leo bury his face into my neck and I mumbled "Leo... just go to sleep..." Leo stilled after two minutes and I began to massage his neck as I became drowsy. I felt myself being lifted up so on instinct I clung to Leo who tightened his hold around my waist, and I looked up seeing Xander who was sitting us in his lap. Leo lifted his head and grumbled quietly "Xander c'mon... I was comfy!" I could only giggle as Leo went back to snuggling me, so I closed my eyes once again. I felt a pat on my shoulder and Elise called out "(Y/N)...? Do you want to play those Sega Genesis games with me?" I felt Leo get off me and I opened my eyes, then got off of Xander's lap. Elise grabbed my hand and took me to her room, and she sat in my lap as we played video games. This was and still is definitely my kind of family.
