Overhaul x Reader

It started one morning when one of Kai's female workers told him she had a crush on him, but all they could tell you is that it got worse... so much worse. (Y/N) locked themselves into the bathroom for the morning, chest feeling heavy and throat burning like they ate something made by the devil himself. They leaned over their sink, gripping the counter with all the strength they had as they coughed and hacked up whatever was coming up their throat and they stared in terror as they watched Cyclamen petals fall out their mouth. "H-huh...? B-but.. how?" They murmured as they picked the wet petals out from the sink, examining them before hearing a soft knock on the door. Kai's voice come through the wood, an ounce of concern laced in his muffled voice, "Chronostasis told me you ran in here... explain why your not doing your rounds and I might let you off." Stuffing the petals into their pocket, (Y/N) responded as clear as their vocal cords would let them, "sorry, Overhaul, I felt sick. I'm feeling better though, so I'll return to my rounds." They unlocked the door as they put their mask back over their face, washing the sink of residue and spit. Kai opened the door slightly then opened it wider when he saw (Y/N) was good to go. "If your feeling sick then rest. I can't have one of my bodyguards falling ill." He muttered as concern washed over him in waves. (Y/N)'s never been sick before, has he not been taking care of them well? Was he failing as a... no, he hasn't asked them that question yet, but he would, he'd make sure they knew how much he loved them. "I'm fine, though, Overhaul. I can assure you of that. Now, allow me to go back to my rounds?" He shook his head as he grasped their arm, "no, your staying with me for the time being. Let's go, I needed your help with something anyway." (Y/N) didn't argue any further as they were led to Kai's office, knowing they would have a harder time hiding this from him. But, on the bright side they'd get to see him more.
"Do you live in my bathroom now, (Y/N)?" A voice broke the steady thrumming of (Y/N)'s thoughts as they shakily lifted their head. "Hm.." they nodded to Kai's words before dropping their head back to the toilet as he stepped in behind them. Gloved hands slid up (Y/N)'s back and steadied them as they coughed up more petals. Ranging from Cyclamen to red Carnations, (Y/N) was having a miniature flower show, both they and Kai wanted it to end as fast as possible. Once (Y/N)'s throat wasn't on fire, they carefully leaned back, trying not to put themselves on Kai until he fully pulled them against him. He removed his glove and pressed it to their stomach, hoping that using his quirk would remove their illness. They batted his hand away, twisting so their face was buried into his neck, ready to pass out right there. Kai kept their head pressed to his neck as he looked into the toilet, his eyes widening as he felt (Y/N) start coughing again. Normally he'd be repulsed, shoving (Y/N) away to clean himself up... but he kept them there at his neck, rubbing their back as he mumbled, "you've had hanahaki and you didn't think to tell me..? I could get rid of it for you, you know." (Y/N) grumbled as they bumped their head to Kai's chin, "yeah, but you also take my emotions away, I kinda want those just sayin." He nodded as he threaded gloved fingers through their hair. "Do you know who it is?" He asked as he shifted himself against the wall. (Y/N) was hesitant in their answering, but decided to tell the truth, "it's... it's you Kai. I know I should've told you this sooner, but I guess now is as good as any." Kai leaned his head on (Y/N)'s, removing his masks so he could kiss their hair before responding, "and you know I'm terrible at showing my emotions, so I'm unsurprised that you thought your love was unrequited. Lift your head for me?" (Y/N) lifted their head for him as asked, and their eyes widened as he kissed them. The heaviness and burning sensation left slowly, but it was an instant relief to (Y/N) as they snuggled up to him. "Huh, guess I have the boss around my finger now?" Kai laughed as he put his masks back on, "I suppose. I also have a meeting, I want you to be there with me." Helping (Y/N) onto their feet, Kai got them dressed then went to the meeting room.
