Saturday

As Logan drove, Patton stared out the open window, looking up at the sky with fascination.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Logan asked, glancing over at Patton.

Returning the glance, Patton nodded. "Yes. I love the sky at night. Everything just looks so...magical!"

Logan laughed slightly, finding his date's enthusiasm adorable and amusing. He looked back to the road soon after.

Minutes later, the teacher pulled into a packed parking lot. He shut the car off, then unbuckled. Before Patton could even reach for the door handle, Logan was there, opening the door for him.

Patton's face dusted a light pink, climbing out of the car. Never had someone been this kind and sweet to him.

Upon Logan offering his hand to Patton, the two walked to the entrance of the restaurant, moving closely and nearly in sync.

After confirming their reservation, the two were led to one of the many tables that lined the wall, and Logan unsurprisingly pulled Patton's chair out before sitting down himself.

Patton's body was buzzing with nervousness, but also happiness. He tried to read his menu, but it was hard to resist glancing over at Logan who sat across from him, his glasses falling down his nose a bit, tongue poking out of his mouth slightly as he read his own menu.

With a small sigh, Patton's eyes returned to the menu. He hadn't ate out in so long, so it was even more odd for him to sit down in a restaurant as fancy as this one.

"It's been a while since I've ordered something rather than taking someone's order," Patton commented quietly, peering at Logan over his menu.

Logan glanced at him. "Is that so?" He didn't sound sarcastic, Patton could tell, just genuinely curious.

Patton nodded, eyes quickly flicking away from Logan's direction once more.

The waiter came to take their orders mere seconds later, and once he left, Patton had no menu to hide behind. It was just him and Logan, the rest of the world drowning out around them.

Normally, Patton wouldn't have much trouble striking up a conversation with Logan, but it seemed that now that the atmosphere had changed from "just flirting" to a full date, it was he was having a hard time functioning like normal. It was as if there was some sort of pressure on him now; one wrong move would result in not only losing his crush, but a good friend as well.

Meanwhile, Logan was silent. He constantly fidgeted with his glasses. His "routine" consisted of: Cleaning them with a lenses wipe, sliding them back on, before taking them off once more and repeating the dreaded cycle.

Sliding a pen out of his pocket, Patton glanced at Logan before pulling a crumpled piece of out of his pocket as well.

Upon noticing the items, Logan tilted his head slightly, like a cute and confused puppy.

Patton couldn't help but giggle slightly. He started to draw something on the paper, then glanced at Logan again. "Guess a letter."

Logan looked even more confused now. "Pardon?"

Patton had to smile slightly now. "We're playing hangman! Guess a letter!"

"I shall go with the one of the most common letters in the English alphabet, 'E.'"

Patton thought about the word for a moment before adding an 'E' to one of the empty boxes.

The two played for a while, and Logan seemed to be stumped with the word. He was overthinking this game, and his mind rushed to decipher the word Patton had chosen.
