After spending hours in the storage unit, they took a break drinking smoothies from the raw bar. Derek had removed his shirt and used it to wipe the sweat from his face. The lack of breeze didn't help. Mel brought the smoothies and giggled like a prepubesent teen when he did that earning her a smirk from him. She didn't linger though which Jessie was thankful for making an excuse about having to get to work, but Jessie knew she didn't have to be there for a few more hours.

Derek and Jessie drove back around 4 pm. His Buick was a land boat. He sunk into the big seats as if they were made for his big frame. The music was soft, but it was some 2000s rock or pop something or another.

"Did you want to hit the pool at the apartments?"

"I didn't know you guys had one." She paused. Bikini. Nope. "Probably not."

"Maybe after we get cleaned up, I can show you the amenities- laundry and all that... maybe on our way out to dinner or something."

Was he asking her out on a date? No, they talked about this earlier at breakfast. Not a date. She did need to know where the laundry was and if they had a gym, she would love to get back to that so she wouldn't feel so blah. "Sure. What are you thinking for dinner?"

"You want all vegan or omni." He asked.

"I try to support all vegan as much as possible." She admitted.

"Sounds good to me."

As promised, they took turns taking a quick shower. Jessie first so she could figure out what clothes would look good on her, but not that she was trying... like at all... right? She landed on a short dress that stopped just under her ass in an A-Line silhouette and dark blue Bermuda shorts to keep things classy. The dress was bright orange with big flowers on it which really said 'Summer' to her. It fit her mood. Things seemed to be going pretty good lately, great even.

Derek took her down to the basement to show her the gym which had a communal locker room and a one stall shower with a curtain. It wasn't too fancy which was surprising for an upscale apartment complex. Then he took her up to the roof which had the pool and jacuzzi. Several people were lounging in the sun and a small garden framed the roof to give the feeling of being in a tropical paradise in the middle of the city.

"This is beautiful," Jessie said in awe.

"Makes up for the shitty locker room downstairs don't it." He smiled.

"Ya."

"Jessie?" Suddenly another voice interrupted her calm. She felt her muscles tense. She turned slowly.

How did she forget he lives here too?

Greg. Fuck.

Confusion written all over his face. "What are you doing here?" Greg asked.

Derek looked at them both but didn't say anything.

"Jessie?" Greg pressed.

"Found your voice?" Jessie blurted out. She couldn't help it. So irritating.

Why did she say that? Oh gosh.

Is he going to say something?

Probably. Shit. She should have kept her mouth shut.

He was looking at Derek now. "I've seen you around before."

"Ya. I live on 15. Moved in kinda recently. I use the gym regularly, so you probably saw me there. I'm Derek."

"Greg. I live on 16." Greg said still looking back and forth between Jessie and Derek.

"How do you know Jessie?" Derek asked.

The question took Jessie back. She frowned.

"Oh, you know. Just friends. Met at a few parties and all that." Greg said looking at Jessie through slitted eyes daring her to say more.

"Ya. Just in passing." Jessie lied.

Greg seemed to relax. He took her to the side and spoke quietly. "Did you tell him..."

"Because that went so well last time." She glared at him.

"You should have said something before my tongue was down your throat." He almost growled it at her.

She wanted to sink away.

He was right.

She should have.

She planned to.

But things always came up.

"Umm. We gotta get going, Greg. It's nice to meet you." Derek slid his hand on her arm and practically drug her away waving back at Greg who stood there glaring at Jessie.

"See you around." She heard making her no longer want to go anywhere for dinner.

In the elevator, she didn't look at Derek. She pressed 15.

"You ok?" He asked.

"Ya. Fine." She didn't say it with any emotion.

She plastered her, "I'm okay" mask on her face and gave him a small smile. "I think I am going to stay in tonight. Wanna order pizza?" She asked.

"Sure. Movie?"

"Sure."
