^^FRIDAY^^

They fell asleep on the couch.

Not all cuddled up or anything romantic.

Instead, her leg was stuck inside the cushion crease and the back of the couch touching Derek's ass. Her head on the armrest. Her other foot was on the other armrest. Derek, earlier in the night, pulled a footrest in and propped his feet on it. Her foot caged him into the far side. Somehow, he fell asleep with his head tilted over the back of the couch and his hands resting on her calf.

At 3 AM, his cell alarm vibrated and wailed.  His phone, which sat on the floor, was plugged into the wall near the television meaning he had to get up to turn it off.

She grumbled not really able to focus on their positions until she felt his hands flinch. Jessie felt Derek groan causing his chest to rumble. He sat stiffly for a moment and thinking she was still asleep, attempted to slide under her foot to get out from under her leg.

She tried to not laugh, but it slipped out.

"Hey. If you are up, move your foot." He had a laugh on his scratchy husky voice.

She bit her lip to not smile. "Of course I'm up. Your alarm is going off." She said moving her foot and tucked the other behind his back then wiggled her toes.

He jumped up as if she were on fire. At the same time, the alarm went off again which he silenced.

He shook his head. A few moments later, he pulled a rolling suitcase by the door. "Did you need anything before I take off?" He asked.

"Did you need me to drive you so you don't have to pay for parking?" She asked her voice still thick with sleep.

"No. The company pays for a driver to pick me up, but you can use my car if you need to. I'll leave the keys on the counter. Code to get into the garage downstairs is our apt number, floor, and 42."

"Apt number, flood and 42. Got it. Maybe text it to me too, just in case." She said.

"Umm. Ya. Need your cell number though."

She lifted her head off the headrest. "Leave your cell on the counter, I'll text you when I'm human again."

He nodded. She saw him take out a business card out of his wallet and jot something down.

Wait a minute. When did he get dressed?

He was wearing different clothes. Board shorts and a t-shirt with a hoodie on top. She smirked at his white socks and Birkenstocks-type sandals.

"Really? Socks with sandals?"

"What? Its cold out, but it'll be hot by the time I land in Hawaii."

"You are going to Hawaii?"

He nodded and grabbed a banana. "Ya. Flights about 8 hours from Seattle to Hono."

"So you gonna sleep then?"

He smirked and shook his head. "Someone kept my attention and they didn't send the information I needed until we were already watching the movie." He took a bite. "I may sleep in the car, but on the plane, I plan on working on my prep work which is plenty of time. I won't do my first dive until tomorrow morning, so I'll get a good rest once I land."

"Sorry." She hid her face in the cushion. "I totally forgot about that."

"I didn't. It's okay. One always has to be flexible, right?" He said then looked at his watch. "Driver should be here. If you need anything call or text Jake or me okay?"

"Got it Ma." She said stealing Jake's line sitting up and placing a pillow in her lap.

He chuckled leaving her in a half sleep state wondering if she should crawl into her actual bed or just collapse into the couch again. The couch won.
