~Vallory's P.O.V~
The next morning I was set on garden duty with a few other kids from Woodbury. There was a tall and sort of chubby girl with short thick hair named Courtney, a short boy who looked around 12 with cracked glasses and hair that wires around in random places, and a tall well built boy who looked around my age with longish black hair and bright green eyes named Charlie Black. Charlie was positioned right next to me, yanking at a stubborn weed.
"Need any help?" I laughed.
"No." He grunted, looking at me then doing a double, "I mean, um, sure." He stuttered.
I rolled my eyes and pulled out my mini knife, I dug the blade under the dirt, cutting the weeds roots. Charlie then pulled it right out.
"Oh, cool!" He laughed, "Nice use of a blade."
"When your dads Daryl Dixon you learn a thing or two." I said, standing up and brushing myself off. I had finished my work and so had Charlie.
"Hey, you hungry?" He asked, standing up also.
"When am I not." I laughed, he laughed also.
We walked to the cafeteria and ate, then went and played basketball. We actually had a lot in common. I think this is the start of a new friendship, which is what I need because all I have is my dad, Carol, and Carl. Later that day, Carl pulled me aside from a card game with Charlie.
"Who's that?" He whisper shouted.
"Charlie, why?" I asked.
"I don't want you hanging around him, Val."
"Carl, you can't just tell me who I can and can't hang out with! He's just a friend, and you and I aren't even dating so it doesn't matter anyways!" I shouted at him, then stalked off and plopped back down next to Charlie.
"Who was that?" Charlie asked as I picked my cards back up.
"Don't worry about it." I mumbled rolling my eyes.
"Okay, got any 4's?"
"Go fish"....
