The Run.
~Vallory's P.O.V~
The next morning, I was packing up for a run. I hooked my new cross bow to the side of my bag for easy access, and attached my katana to my hip. My bag was empty, I had to clean it out to make sure I had enough room for supplies, except for my small supply of arrows for my crossbow. I walked out of my cell, hoping I wouldn't wake Madisyn or Averylynn, knowing they would want to tag along. But with my luck one of the stairs squeaked and Averylynn jogged out of her and Madisyn's cell.
"Hey Val Val!" She squealed. Oh God, kill me now.
"Hey Avery." I mumbled, and Madisyn stumbled out.
"What's going on? Why is everyone up so early?" Madisyn grumbled.
"They are going on a run. Rick, Carl, Daryl, Vallory, Michonne, Glenn, and Maggie." Hershal smiled, hobbling down the hall, I whirled around and glared at him, causing him to give me a confused look.
"And us!" Averylynn squealed, jumping up and down.
"No!" I snapped. I wasn't to fond of Averylynn, but I was hoping I'd warm up to her because she didn't seem all bad. I like Madisyn because she was tough, like me, but can be soft for someone she cares for, also like me, I've seen it with her and Averylynn.
"Why not?" Averylynn pouted, jutting out her bottom lip.
"You guys are new, I think you just need to rest. Okay?" Hershal replied in a soothing voice. Thank God for him, I probably would have just snapped more. I am just Not in the mood today.
Hershal walked with me to the courtyard, we made small talk. I realized that I really looked up to him, like a wise grandfather, even though he's made some mistakes in his life he has really made up for it. I honestly don't know what we would do if Hershal left. I hopped into Rick's green minivan and rested my forehead against the cool glass of the window. I heard someone get in beside me but I ignored them. Rick said we were going a town that was about 2 hours away, and I was up late last night and up early this morning, so I let my eyelids droop close and a deep sleep consume me. I woke up to feel someone's steady breathing beneath me. I opened my eyes and saw Carl and I laying long ways on the seat, my head was on his chest and his arms were around my waist. I poked his cheek, hoping he would wake up and let me go. But he barely stirred. I saw all of the doors were closed and I could see Maggie and Glenn watching us through the window, and they were giggling. I got right next to Carl's ear, took a breathe, and screamed.
"WAKEY WAKEY SLEEPING BUEATY!!"
Carl jumped, causing me to fall off of the seat and hit my head.
"Why would you do that?!" He groaned.
"You wouldn't get up." I giggled, rubbing the back of my head.
I grabbed my bag off of the floor and opened the car door. I trotted up to Rick and he gave us teams. Rick and Daryl were going to scope out the produce store (things for the gardens), Maggie and Glenn to the Babies R Us for the kids and Judith, Michonne to check out a house across the street by herself, and Carl and I checking out a rather large gas station corner. The walk to the gas station was quiet. There were 3 cars with half full tanks in the parking lot but the cars were full of little walkers (children) so we couldn't search anymore. Carl and I found something that literally made me cry.
"What is it?" Carl asked.
It was a completely fresh stocked Subway.
