"Cad, baby, things like that happen. In the future you'll find a guy that will treat you the way you deserve." Caden and her mother, Constance, just arrived to North Carolina. Everything was settled and well organized in Caden's room, after finishing unpacking she made her way downstairs to talk to her parents. Her dad was now aware of what happened thanks to Constance, who got told of the news during the car ride.
"But mom I thought he was going to be the one! What he did was disgusting!" Caden had now angry tears running down her face, frustration in her veins, she had now passed the stage of heartbreak and moved on to the stage of rage. "He completely ignored my feelings. How am I going to find another guy? My trust for them is gone, all ruined because of him." Her dad was fuming too, his face was red and he had a hard expression on his face, he hated when someone hurt her daughter.
"That's the sign that he is not the one, you'll find another guy who will fight for your trust." Constance sipped a bit of her tea. "It's not going to be easy, but it will happen Cad." She took Caden's hand and gave it a squeeze. "Well I need to make dinner, tonight I'm making homemade pizza." Caden smiled knowing that she was making her favorite food to cheer her up, she was glad to have amazing parents who gave her so much support.
Now it was only her and Caleb, her dad. He couldn't come pick her up along with his wife because he had some things to prepare for a meeting he had tomorrow, and he now regretted not coming. "Caden I want you to know that this is not your fault. He was a piece of shit, and next time I see him I'll let him know." He was always so unfiltered it made Caden laugh, he knew this and that's why he always did it. If he could unsee her daughter crying because of a boy he would. "So stop crying, you don't deserve it. What did I always tell you when you were upset as a kid?"
"Happy tears only." He hugged his daughter, she missed his hugs. Her family always made her happy when she fought with Jackson, truth is they used to fight a lot. Jackson would want to take a step further very quickly, but Caden was never ready for it to happen. "Let's not talk about that asshole and focus on the good stuff, how were your classes?"
It was a very fun dinner in between the three Díaz family members. Caden enjoyed telling them about her college experience, how she balanced sports with classes, how one day she managed to make something explode in the lab, and even all the memories of the team bondings and her roommate and other people she met there. Caden had to deal with anxiety for the most part of the day, but that didn't stop her from making friends and trying to have fun. Sometimes she had her days of staying at the dorm relaxing, or when she wasn't in the mood to hang out.
All the teachers were very proud of her, she was a very good student when it came to science, a horrible one when it came to arts. In high school she failed her English literature classes most quarters, no one knew how she ended up getting the credits, not even her.
Some people would say that Caden was a great person, inside and out. She was pretty, funny, smart when she wanted to, and amazing at sports. Caden made herself known, but she hated the attention, sometimes she wasn't the nicest and people just wouldn't accept that. She always said that there's always someone who is not going to like you, you can't be perfect for everyone, that's impossible. She hated the image people put of her, she wasn't all positive aspects.
Dinner ended and Caden went upstairs to get ready to lay in bed and watch some movies. She loved summer and being in North Carolina, but she missed her friends. She would FaceTime them when they were all free. Now that she thought about it Caden had a lot of friends, ride or dies, her soccer squad, but only a best friend. Having one close friend was great, or at least that's what she thought. They had been together since middle school, she was Eva, her sister from another mister. They were always there for eachother, Caden was there when Eva came out as a lesbian, Eva thought Caden was going to hate her forever but instead she screamed and hugged her tightly, she couldn't be prouder.
