Caden had been sitting on the roof for the past ten minutes crying. She didn't know Edwin felt that way about her, could the other guys feel that way too?
Music could still be heard from the inside of the house, a song that Caden didn't recognize. All she wanted to do was get home and sleep it off. What did she do wrong?
"Hey Cad." She could hear a voice, and someone sitting down next to her. "I don't like you crying." It was quiet, but loud enough for her to hear.
"Do you think I'm problematic?" She didn't bother looking up to see who it was, she already knew by the deep voice he had. "Of course not, and Edwin doesn't either."
"You saw everything?" In the corner of her eyes she could see Brandon nodding, "me, Z and Aust did." There was a pause, comfortable silence. "Edwin's confused about his feelings, it became too much for him and exploded. Sadly, you were the one with him at that moment."
"Bee what he did didn't matter at all, I can wash the romper and give it back to him," she looked at the stained romper, "but those words, they hurt when Tiffany said them, but when Edwin did it was worse." Brandon side-hugged Caden, staying that way.
"He'll come around, he always does." They both looked at the sky, again, without stars. It reminded Caden of the moments she and Zion shared. "He did it because he likes you, everyone can tell and I'm sure you too."
"I think that after tonight it's clear that there's something there," she sighed, "it's funny, the girls told me this as well." For the first time that night Brandon looked at Caden, he could see what Edwin saw. "But how do you feel?" He shifted making Caden do the same. "I- I don't know," she looked back at him, both holding eye contact, "the thing with Jackson still gets me, and I don't feel anything towards anyone."
Brandon debated bringing Zion up during the conversation. Zion was hard to read when it came to feelings, everyone always said that about him. Brandon could tell Zion was starting to bond with Caden, he just needed to notice. "What about Z?" He finally asked.
"What about him?" They still held eye contact, Brandon could see Caden's deep green eyes and she could see his dark brown ones. "Are you aware that he kind of likes you?" Caden scoffed, "I can tell with Edwin, but Z? He treats other girls the same way."
"Caden listen to me. Z is my brother, I've known him for a while. He's starting to like you but he's too slow to realize it," Caden denied it, this time speaking a little louder. "And you listen to me, he doesn't!" She started to swing her legs, "Alexys, Char, Fiff, Eva who doesn't even know him, you, everyone has been telling me! You are all wrong."
"Are you denying it because you are scared of getting hurt?" His voice got louder too, talking over Caden's. "I'm denying it because I don't see a boy that likes me, I see a boy that wants to be my friend and treats me like that."
"And do you feel something for Z?"
"Look, Bee, I'll tell you the same thing I told everyone. I just got here and also ended a relationship that permanently scarred me. At the moment I only see you and the rest of the guys as friends," she paused, "and what Ed needs to do is get over this stupid crush he has because he is ruining his actual relationship and making it my fault when I don't do shit!"
