Ryan's moms funeral was a few days later. It was a closed casket, for obvious reasons. Everyone who was at her family reunion was at the funeral. Ryan stood quietly to the side while everyone told their stories about her mom. I was standing next to Ryan holding her hand.

She didn't have any stories about her mom, mainly because she barely saw her mom growing up. She was essentially raised by numerous different nannies.

She didn't even want to come to the funeral.

Everyone here has come up to her and told her how sorry they were that her mom had died, but no one knew that she hadn't been living with her mom for nearly three months.

Lilie was sitting in the back of the room playing on her phone, not paying attention until everyone started moving to go bury the casket outside in the cemetery.

Ryan followed slowly behind the casket and the two men carrying it. I followed behind Ryan and took her hand when we were outside. Lilie was standing to the side of the door waiting for us.

She smiled at me when I saw her then followed closely behind Ryan and me. I slowly wrapped my arms around Ryan when we met up with everyone else waiting to lower the casket into the pre-dug hole.

I wrapped my arm around Ryan's waist when we stopped walking.

"Are you okay?" I whispered after the casket was buried and most of the people had left. She nodded then slowly hugged me. I kissed her on the forehead lightly then sighed when Lilie walked over to us.

"Are you okay Ryan?" Lilie asked with false concern on her face.

"I'm fine," Ryan said into my chest, her voice was muffled so Lilie didn't hear her.

"She said she's fine," I said to Lilie. She slowly crossed her arms then looked at me with her eyebrow raised.

"Let's go," I whispered to Ryan then slowly pulled away from her and took her hand.

We slowly walked to my car holding hands. I walked to the passenger side of the car with her and she slowly leaned against my car.

"Do you need to talk?" I asked slowly wrapping my arms around her again. She shook her head slowly then wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Are you sure?" I asked again. She nodded again then sniffled when I kissed her on the forehead. "Are you ready to go home then?" I whispered.

"Can we get some ice cream?" she whispered back.

"Sure babe," I chuckled then opened her door for her. She smiled lightly when I shut the door after she climbed in.

I walked around to my door and climbed in. Ryan buckled her seatbelt then sighed lightly. "Your dad's funeral tomorrow," she said slowly. I nodded slowly then started the car before pulling out of the now empty parking lot.

I drove to the nearest ice cream shop then looked at Ryan when she unbuckled. I unbuckled then smiled when Ryan looked at me when I sighed. "What?" she asked quietly. I shook my head slowly then leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. She smiled lightly then turned her head and kissed me slowly.

"Let's go get some ice cream," I whispered when she pulled away an inch.

"Okay," she whispered then climbed out of the car. I climbed out of the car then took her hand and walked with her into the ice cream shop.

After we got our ice cream we sat down at a little table in the corner. Ryan took a bite of her ice cream then slowly ran her foot up my leg from under the table.
