I woke up the next morning to my alarm. I looked out the window to see it was still dark out. The trees around my house were blocking my view of the sun. I walked down the hallway to the kitchen and made myself some eggs. After eating I headed to another room and sat down in front of a computer. I had one email. It was from my boss. I read it out loud.

Dear Josiah,

I need you to get me a recording. I have sent you a package with a device you can use. There will be a meeting at 8:30 on Tuesday the 17th at 539 Hemolt road in the town of Undac. You will be paid 500.

Reminder, be careful, and if you're caught, you are on your own. If your caught you were never working for us.

17th? That's today! I rushed out of the room and had a quick shower then changed into a new outfit. I was now wearing a black long sleeve shirt and some jeans. For my job, my mask would be useful, one of the many reasons I liked this job.

It was now about 6 o'clock. I left my house and went to the post office. Sure enough, there was a package for me. After the post office I headed back home. I walked down the hallway of my home and stopped at my library, then I made a quick decision and walked into the room. I wanted to do more research. I had bought most of the books that were here to try and figure out what caused my red eyes. I had read most of them, but there were a few I hadn't read yet. I picked one out and sat down to read.

After about half an hour I threw the book down in frustration, it had nothing. I decided to go upstairs. I had an indoor hammock near a window and it was really comfy so after a few minutes I was asleep.

I awoke and panicked. What a terrible decision to take a nap! I checked the time. Only 7:30, thank goodness. I got up and left the house heading to my vehicle. I took off my mask and started driving, following the directions I had received.

One hour later I arrived at what I thought was a normal looking house. It was small and looked exactly like the houses around it. I imagined there were lots of guards inside. Putting back on my mask I snuck to the back of the house and ducked below a window. Slowly, I peeked through the window and saw a guard siting in a chair. He wasn't sleeping, but he looked almost asleep. He must have been up all night. I walked up to the back door and slowly opened the door. I looked at the guard, he didn't even notice me.

From this room, there were two hallways leading in different directions and some stairs heading into a basement. I made a quick decision and crept down into the basement. A few seconds later I discovered my guess was correct. In the basement, there was a big table with people sitting around it and there was a chandelier above the table. The people were all wearing expensive clothing. I pressed myself against the wall to not be seen. Then, I took the voice recorder out of my pocket and turned it on. I listened to the rich people for a bit. Their conversation was not very interesting at first but then there was a pause and someone said "Now let's begin." After that I started paying more attention.

"The Lentlithen Ortide only happens every 500 years. The last time it happened was 19 years ago, wich means it won't happen for another 481 or so years." The same person as before said.

"We know that already, get to the point." Another person said.

"I am trying to figure out more about the person who was affected by the Lentlithen Ortide 19 years ago. But I've only discovered a first name so far."

"And the name is?"

"Josiah."

I froze, for a moment I was barely even breathing.

Josiah as in, me?

Me?

I had been looking so hard for more information about why I was born with red eyes and now when I'm not looking this happens?
