I awoke in a hospital room. There was lots of noise, a nurse was talking to a patient who broke their leg in the bed beside me. I sat up and immediately someone came over to me. He had a warm smile on his face and held some pages in his hands.

"Hello, my name is Alec, may I ask you name?" He asked.

I looked down. Name, is it safe? Is it safe to tell him?

"Josiah."

"Your full name" he clarified.

"Josiah Olin Horacio Aamot." I said.

I noticed him write on the first page.

"Where are your parents, what's their names?"

I froze. They weren't here obviously. I hadn't seen them in so long.

"We'd like to inform them of your condition." The man added.

"My condition?" I asked.

"Yes, your injured. Where did you get all those scars?"

I looked up and took a deep breath before replying.

"My parents names are Karella Aamot and Faliciet Aamot."

"Where do they live?"

"In Calfreneta, it's a few hours from the capital of Denetoro."

"How old are you?"

"19 years old."

"Okay, that's it for now, we will try to contact your parents."

The person left and I rested for a bit before the door opened and two police officers entered. They looked around before spotting me and walking over.

"Hello, what is your name?"

More questions.

After a few minutes they left and I went to sleep.

I was 11 years old, and I had just gotten an email with the job for that day. I had met my boss only once and he seemed rather... cold, but just as long as I get paid I can deal with that right? I left my house and headed to the meeting spot. The job for today: be a decoy. Fun. I had done this before and I was good at it, show up, look suspicious, hood covering the face, carry a leather bag that people would think has the money. The truth, the robbers were wearing the same outfits and had the actual bags of money. I just had to divert the attention of the cops. I was the criminals backup. There had been occasions when there were no police, or anyone to stop us and I still got paid, which was awesome.

I arrived at the meeting spot, an expensive clothing shop. It was a half an hour walk from my house, too bad I wasn't old enough to drive. I waited a couple minutes and then a vehicle drove into the parking lot and a group of people got out of the vehicle. There were about 5 of them and they were between 28-35 years of age. They were all so tall compared to me.

"Hey kid." My boss said.

I guessed he was 34 years old. He had light brown hair.

"Hi." I said.

"Let's go through the plan."

We all crowded into a circle and my boss started explaining. Then I headed to the back of the building and waited by the back door, keeping watch. After a while I heard an alarm go off and then the door opened and the men ran down the road to my right, I waited a moment then headed down the opposite road. I glanced behind me and saw the owner of the store exit the back door, then see me. I ran faster. I had 5 minutes to get rid of him, there was plenty enough time and many different side-roads where I could go. He wouldn't be able to catch up to me, I was too fast.

Then I heard police sirens. Great. I could take the trails through the forest where vehicles weren't allowed to go, or I could try hiding in the crowds on one of the busier streets. I decided to take the forest way. I didn't like crowds.

I ran towards the forest and in a matter of minutes the shop owner was out of sight, far behind me. The sirens where louder now and when I looked behind me I saw the vehicle, it was really close. I reached the forest. I had a head start, the police would have to park their vehicle, then start running after me. I had a chance. But then I heard a sentence that made my heart stop for a second.

"Freeze, or I'll shoot!"

Shoot? Dude, I'm only 11. He wouldn't shoot a kid right?

I turned and saw the police pointing a gun at me. The expression on his face made me believe he would shoot me.

I looked at my situation, the trail I was on was small, if I ran off the trail I could hide in the trees, but what if he shot me? I would have to risk it. I don't want to end up at the police station, they would start asking questions.

I took a deep breath then ran. I was just leaving the trail and into the thicker part of the woods when I heard a gunshot and I fet a burning pain in my shoulder. I cried out but continued to run. I could hear the man chasing me, then, after a few minutes he fell farther behind until finally, I had lost him. I collapsed onto the ground in pain. All I could hear was my breath. I waited for my breathing to slow.

Then I heard a crunching of branches and looked up expecting to see the police officer but it was my boss. He didn't look happy.

"I see you had some trouble, would you like to explain?"

"There was a police officer, but I lost him, it's fine." I replied.

"Other then the fact that you might be on the wanted list now? It doesn't take much in this town you know."

"He didn't see my face."

"That doesn't matter, you're fired. Oh and boys-"

He turned to his friends.

"Teach him a lesson so he'll know not to make the same mistake again."
