It took some time before I fell asleep. I didn't like sleeping. When I'm sleeping my memories like to visit me, memories I don't want to remember. I sat in bed, staring out the window at the stars. I questioned if I had made the right choice, coming here. If I had gone home, I would be in bed all day just the same but how would I of gotten my food? I would of had to walk to the kitchen. After a while I fell asleep and the memory came.

I shivered in the cold. It was getting late, probably around 4 o'clock. I put my hand to my face and lightly touched the bruise starting to form. Why couldn't I be stronger? If I could of defended myself I wouldn't of missed the bus, I wouldn't be walking home right now. But it wasn't my fault, they attacked me. Besides, I wouldn't want to bother my parents with asking them for self defence classes, it was too expensive. No, I would just have to deal with it. I was the one who was different, I wasn't normal, I knew that. I turned a corner. I was creepy, I didn't like looking at myself in the mirror. Why, why was I like this? Why me?

I heard a noise and I looked up. There were people standing in front of me, blocking the road. They looked at least 4 years older then me and were all very tall. I backed up.

"Hello?" I said, questioningly.

"Look, he's so tiny and he sounds scared." One of them said. He had dark hair and brown eyes.

"It doesn't matter, the kid creeps me out." A boy with light brown hair said.

I took another step back but the boy with brown hair took a step forward.

"Look at his eyes, he's like a monster or something!" He laughed.

I flinched. A monster, I was like a monster.

"I need to get home, my parents—" I started to say, before I was cut off by another boy.

"Your parents should of abandoned you by now, they are stupid if they think you are harmless."

I looked down, he was right, my parents should of abandoned me.

"How about we make your parent's life simpler? We could just put you in jail, out of the way. My dad works as a police officer."

"I like that idea." Another person said.

"Nah, I think we should beat him up so he knows not to mess with us if he gets some superpowers or something in the future."

I backed up then started running the way I had come. I could hear the boys laughing behind me as they chased after me. Any second now they would catch up to me.

I awoke. The sun was shinning through the window. I guessed it was around 10 o'clock. I could hear people talking in another room. I slowly sat up and clutched my stomach. I didn't like this, I didn't like being weak. I got out of bed. Part of me was telling me to go back to bed. You aren't healed yet, you need to rest. But I didn't listen and started walking to the door. Slowly I opened the door and walked down the hall to the kitchen.

Elana's entire family was already awake and so was Maya. They were sitting at the kitchen table eating pancakes.

"Good morning" I said softly.

I was still really tired but I was not going back to sleep, the memory that had visited me last night was bad enough, I didn't need a reminder of anything else that had happened.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Elana asked.

"Better than most nights." I replied.

I sat down at the table. Elana's mother and father were in a deep discussion but when I entered the kitchen, Elana's father turned and gave me a small smile before returning to his conversation.

After breakfast I returned to the room and sat in bed. I took out the pages my boss had given me and unfolded them.

I did more research and here's what I found:

Lentlithen Ortide

A baby born with red eyes during the Mars opposition. It is very rare. Not all babies born during that time will have red eyes. We don't have much knowledge if there are many differences between a baby born with red eyes and one not. But we have discovered some details. Most Lentlithen Ortide children are very smart and brave and can handle extreme temperatures more then most of us.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Aamot we were able to collect some information.
We will try to keep you updated.

LO searchers.

My hands started to shake and I reread the end of the message. "Mr. and Ms. Aamot." No way, it couldn't be them.
