~~~~Riley’s Point Of View~~~~
           I wake up before Alex does and I watch as the sunlight dances on his beautiful face. I wish I could lie here for hours and just examine how the sun dances on his eyelids, threatening to wake him, or the way his hair looks so tousled yet perfect, the way the corners of his mouth turn just ever so slightly into a smile. The way his jaw is relaxed or the way his eyelashes lay delicately on his stubble covered cheeks, every now and then moving as if he’s awake.
                But I couldn’t wait to examine awake Alex. The way his eyes light up when he sings, plays, or talks about something he has a deep passion for. The way he twirls his hair between his fingers when it’s late and he’s exhausted, I’ve grown familiar to that one in particular. I want to study the tone of his many laughs and feel the warmth in his palms when he touches my cheek or holds my hand.
                Before my train of thought gets any further, his eyes bat open and he blinks quickly until his eyes adjust to the sunlight. He smiles at me and notices my gaze. “What are you looking at?” He asks, and oh, God. His morning voice! I could listen to him talk all day in it. He clears his throat and adjusts his position next to me. “Is something on my face?” He asks, suddenly self-conscious.
                I smile and laugh lightly. “No,” I look over his shoulder and at the daisies he had given to me. I smile wider and he turns, following my gaze.
                “You liked daisies, and I’m trying to make it up to you. So I got them.” He says as he looks at them. Then he looks back at me. “I’m going to use the bathroom, okay?” I nod and watch him get up off my bed and walk to the bathroom. I notice what he’s wearing and I can’t help but watch him as he walks away. As he closes the door, I gently sit up and reach for his beanie. I slide it on my head, fearing the atrocity my hair must be right now.
                While he’s in the bathroom, there’s a knock on the door and a doctor comes in, followed by to platters of breakfast, one for me and one for Alex. She pulls the domes off the top as reveals what it is.; scrambled eggs, jellied toast, bacon, and orange juice. I lick my lips lightly. She wheels mine over my bed and wheels his next to his chair. As I adjust my bed and pick up the toast, Alex comes out of the bathroom quietly and takes his seat. The doctor looks between us and once the cook is gone, he smiles.
                “Good morning, Miss Bonnex,” He nods to Alex. “Sir,”
                “Alex,” He corrects and juts out his hand. The doctor shakes it and returns to his clipboard as Alex immediately begins eating his bacon.
                “How are you feeling today?” He asks and clicks his pen. I set my toast down.
                “Better.” I answer honestly.
                He smiles. “Good. Now, if you’d like to have further help, you may.” He peers up at me from behind his black glasses. I quickly shake my head. “No? I recommend it, Miss.”
