You woke to Chris gently rocking your shoulder, your eyes fluttered open. Over the intercom someone was thanking everyone for flying with the airline, you looked up at Chris who was standing smiling down at you. You gave a small stretch before standing, you grabbed your bag from the overhead compartment.
"How was your nap?" Chris humored as you both walked off of the plane.
"Not long enough?" You chuckled, walking out of the terminal behind him.
A camera started flashing the moment you both made your way out of the narrow hall. You dipped out from behind him, walking down the hall heading towards baggage claim.
You pretended to be looking at your phone waiting for him. His bags at your feet knowing you could excuse yourself if someone with a camera showed up. You glanced up from phone and saw Chris coming towards you with a smile on his face.
"There you are." He stated walking over grabbing his bag off the ground.
"The paparazzi and the cameras that's your thing, I just here for the scenery." You chuckled following him to the doors that led outside.
"Thought I was here for that." He smirked taking a long look down your body.
"Hey now, we're in public." You laughed light heartedly. As the two of you made your way to over night parking.
"So who did you get to watch Hagrid for me?" You asked as you spotted Chris's car.
"My brother Scott," he replied opening the back hatch of the Jeep. "And he said that the poor thing jumped out and attacked him the minute he opened the front door. Asked me if you ever fed the damn thing."
"No, he didn't." You scoffed as he walked around the drivers side unlocking the car.
"He sure did, said that Hagrid was full of piss and fire." Chris responded as you sat down and buckled yourself in.
"Hagrid is blind and has no teeth. What's he doing to do, gum him to death?" You giggled as Chris backed the car out, driving out of the garage.
"Just relaying what he told me." Chris told you as he looked over his shoulder pulling out on to the highway.
"What did you tell him anyway?" You asked, watching the road in front you, the sky lighting up with a fiery orange as the sun began to set.
"Just that a friend of mine had a family emergency and had to fly out for a couple of days." Chris told you, slipping his hand into yours as he drove.
"No questions asked?" You gave him a quizzical look.
"Nope, that's just how we are." He smiled over at you.
You leaned back in the seat getting comfortable, trying not to think about the thoughts that wanted to plague you. You sighed, watching the buildings fly passed on the way to your house.
"So now what do you have going on?" You asked breaking the silence.
"Well, I fly out a couple days from now to Italy, then to Germany for some press touring. A month after that I fly out to Texas for some filming." He responded, giving you a quick look. "Don't think I've ever filmed in Texas."
"So, Italy, Germany and then Texas?" You stated outloud.
"I'll be home for a bit between Germany and Texas." He smiled bringing your hand to his lips.
"Well, you'll have to take pictures of some cool plants in Texas for me, like some cactus." You smiled over at him.
"I dont think Texas has cactus." He chuckled.
"I'm sure they do, oh and those cool looking cows with the long antlers!"
"Sweetheart, those are bulls and they are horns not antlers." He laughed shaking his head as he pulled off the highway nearing your house.
"Whatever, still lots of picture of those and any jack rabbits you find." You bit your lip as your house came into view.
A part of you was excited to be home, and then a part of you never want him to leave. He pulled the Jeep into the drive and killed the engine. Chris turned to face you, those soft sky blues looking directly into yours.
"Thank you." He said softly, still holding your hand.
"I didn't do anything." You replied looking down at your lap, except for the obvious.
"Eyes up when we're talking, baby girl." His voice lowering an octave, the tone more of a command then him asking. You raised your eyes to meet his. "You were there. Helped me get out of my own head, checked in when you could tell I was stressing out. So thank you."
"You're welcome." You replied softly, he reached over and pulled you close to him, his lips finding yours. You broke the kiss, wishing he could stay longer. "You should probably go, I'm sure you're already late for your sisters birthday dinner."
"Baby girl." He sighed letting you go, you stepped out of the car. "I'll talk to you later, okay?"
"Night, Chris." You stated, rounding the front of the car.
Once inside you kicked off your shoes and you went up stairs to take a long hot soak. Once again trying to keep your mind from wandering to places it shouldn't. You knew you were lucky not just cause of getting to be around Chris cause he was famous or anything but because he was such a good person.
You got out of the bath, knowing if you stayed in any longer you'd fall asleep. You dressed yourself in pjs and set out to feed Hagrid. Wondering where he was since he never greeted you when you came in.
When you stepped into the kitchen your heart sank. There he was laying on the floor panting in hard shallow breaths, no energy to even lift his head. You whipped out your phone.
You: where is the closest er vet?
Then you brought up google to find one since you didn't know the area. Chris responded right away with an address followed by a second text.
Chris: what wrong?
You: it's Hagrid, he's not moving and breathing hard.
You slipped on your shoes on and grabbed your keys. You gently picked the cat up and rush out the door.
