For the last hour you laid sprawled across Chris's chest, your naked bodies pressed tight to each other. Your even steady breath told Chris that you were fast asleep, hair covering part of your face. He looked down at you, and sighed heavily. He knew if he was smart he should untangle himself and go to the living room. If he was smart the two of you should of went back to your house instead but he didn't, he brought you back to his.
He knew if the two of you slept together like this that it was the start of a very slippery slope. At the same time he just didn't have the heart to move away from you, not after the evening you had went through.
He could only imagine the pain and the panic you went through when you sent him the text about Hagrid. A part of him felt guilty for having you come out to California stealing you of the last couple days together with him. Had he known he would never of had you come out. Chris kissed the top of your sleeping head, and you smiled in your sleep.
He told his sister mostly the truth, that a friend of his had to run some family to the emergency. To him pets were family, and he knew even if he told that you were running your cat to the vets she would of understood. He panicked, and dropped everything he was doing to come to your side.
Chris knew you would do the same, even he if wasn't paying you to. It was just who you were, he pulled you tight against his chest. However he needed to be more careful, the last he wanted to do was develop feelings for you, that's not what this was. But tonight, he wasn't going anywhere, tonight you needed someone to be there for you and that's exactly what he was going to do.

You woke the next morning, you head raising and falling with each breath the man under your head took. At first you were about to panic, but then you remembered everything that happened. You shifted your head slightly, looking up at Chris's sleeping face.
His lips were slightly parted, his hair in state up disarray. He really was just beautiful man, you sighed, realizing that this was one of his don'ts. He'd regret it the minute he woke up.
Still apart you basked in this moment, the part of you that you continually hushed. This was all business for him, the sex, the being around each other, everything about your relationship with him was a business deal. Nothing more, nothing less.
You heard a door somewhere in the house, and your body tensed up. You heard the tags on dodgers collar jingle, shit!
"Chris!" You whispered, shaking the man lightly. "Chris wake up, someone just let them self in."
"Chris! You awake?" A male voice yelled, your heart starting to hammer in your chest.
Chris slowly opened his eyes, they met yours and a half smile formed. He began to strech, oblivious to what you just heard.
"Chris, come on man." The voice called out getting closer.
That's when he shot up out of the bed, grabbing his boxers and pulling them hastily as you pulled the sheet up around your body. He darted out of the room closing the door behind him.
"Hey Scott!" Chris stated as he came out of the hall, Dodger rushing up to greet him. He reached down, giving the overly excited animal attention.
"Who's jacket was by the front door?" Scott asked, raising an eye brow.
"My friend." Chris replied taking a deep breath.
"Guessing she stayed the night?" He asked, walking toward the kitchen with Chris behind him.
"Her cat passed away last night." Chris sighed, as he started to make a pot of coffee.
"And your in your boxers, why?" Scott continued questioning, sitting down on the stool.
"If you have a question just ask it instead of beating around the bush." Chris snapped turning to face his brother, crossing his arms as he leaned back against the counter.
"Just you've been acting off the last couple of days. Having me watch a friends cat, one that you won't tell me the name of considering I know all your friends. Then you left our sisters birthday suddenly cause a friend was having a family emergency. I bring dodger home to find you in your boxers and a female friend, who I still don't know the name to has stayed the night after her cat passed. I'm just looking out for you, you've never been one to sneak around when it come your personal life, not with your family at least." Scott stated, watching his brother. "Just want to know what's going on, if you don't want Mom to know, that's fine, but don't keep me out."
"She's new to the area and doesn't know a lot of people. And she's someone I can talk to, okay. So yeah, I kinda ditched family to be there for her cause she doesn't have anybody." Chris replied, his tone becoming softer. "As for me in my boxers, nothing happened."
You stood in the hall listening to everything, you had gotten dressed the moment Chris left the room. You knew you should give them their privacy but you didn't know how long to hide in his room or if you should try and sneak out. Your car was still across town at the vets office.
"Do you want to meet her?" Chris asked, he had seen a Dodger jump off the couch and make a beeline toward the hall wagging his tail. He knew you just around the corner.
"Sure, any friend of yours is a friend of mine." Scott replied, your back stiffened.
Quietly Chris walked over and turned the corner, you jumped back, swallowing the lump that form in the back of your throat. He smirked at you and hooked his head for you follow him. He walked back out of the hall, and slowly you followed him.
