"I'm home!" Doyle called out as he walked through the front door an hour after he originally arrived. Bringing his suitcase in he deposited it by the foot of the stairs and set off in the direction of the kitchen where he heard voices.
"In here sweetie." His mother, Kalee called out. Upon entering he saw his Uncle Jake, Aunt Madison, and Zach sitting around the table with his father, as Kalee busied herself with preparing dinner. "Hey Doyle! How was your trip? As eventful as Zach's?"
Doyle stiffened slightly but forced a slight chuckle hoping to not draw too much attention to himself. He knew eventually he'd have to inform his parents but a part of Doyle really wanted to keep everything to himself so he wouldn't have to sort through all the helpful words, though he was sure they wouldn't seem so helpful at the time.
"Yeah, he had a pretty interesting time!" Taking a seat beside his father he clapped him lightly on the back. "How's it going old man?"
Connor rolled his eyes, "I may be older but I can still take you down boy." He joked as he turned back to Jake and Madison. "So Zach, what do you wish to do?"
Do? What exactly were they talking about? Doyle thought. But Doyle wasn't expecting the next sentence to come out his mouth.
"She isn't sure she wants to become a member of the pack, this is still all so new to her and to be honest she's quite unsure about it all still." Zach stated as he glanced over at his parents then stopping on Doyle as to urge him to reveal is own revelation. Shaking his head no, Doyle ran his hands over his head feeling the tug of uncertainty wash over him again.
"Well Zach, you two have to decide. Since your father never formally joined you are free to live a life outside of the pack and remain in our area. But I'd like to urge you and her to think about it strongly not only for yourselves but for the lives of your future young. Your father and Kalee grew up not knowing the full extent of their powers or if they could even shift. And it would be far more easier on the young ones if they had someone much like themselves to talk to about what is happening to them." Connor rose his points to Zach's attention causing him to nod vigorously.
Just as the conversation continued on, Doyle's cell phone began to ring wildly in his pocket. Excusing himself and shooting a warning glance at Zach he walked into the hallway to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Hey!" Andy's voice chirped from the other end of the line.
"Did you get home safe?"
"Yep, Layla and I were wondering if you and Zach wanted to do something?"
"I need to ask Zach, but I'm sure if it has something to do with Layla he's in." Doyle chuckled knowing that he was probably straining his ears to hear the phone call.
"Well I just need your address and we'll be right over." He could tell by her voice that she was smiling as she talked him. Part of Doyle smiled too but it was short lived, and now he was left with the choice of telling her or not.
Doyle recited his address to Andy then asked her to give them about thirty minutes before coming over, since he had yet to actually talk to his parents and Zach was in there at that very moment getting lectured.
"So Doyle, is there anything you wish to talk to me about?" Connor asked as he snapped his phone shut. Slowly he turned to meet his father's gaze, suddenly he felt trap and before he could stop himself the words came rushing out of his mouth like a child.
"I FOUND HER!" Doyle belted out then slapped his hand over his mouth much like Ashling would when she was younger and her mouth got the best of her.
