Chapter Twenty Three

ACES POV

I quickly stand to my feet I can't shift into my wolf Harper would see it as a threat. I cautiously watch Harper as she holds a purple ball of light in her hand no doubt that that's what she struck me with

"Harper it's me, Ace" I try talking soothingly with my hands held up in surrender

Her face twists as she closes her eyes tightly her hands fist at her side the ball of light gone she shakes her head no. When her eyes open she gives me the deadliest glare and throws her right hand out. I go flying back in the air onto my back again. I watch her as she walks towards me with a relentless smirk on her face. I get up slowly catiously watchering her. She has that purple ball of light in her hand again and she throws it at me I quickly dodge it her face falters for a minute showing worry in her eyes then goes back to the evil hollow glint. I quickly take long strides towards her. She keeps throwing the balls of purple fire towards me as I dodge them a couple graze my legs and arms one grazes my cheek they burn like hell and they're not healing.. Why? I wonder confused I should be healing

HARPERS POV

Why isn't he running? why does he insist on coming towards me? doesn't he know what's good for him? I'm dangerous. I don't want to hurt this familiar man in front of me who goes by the name Ace but I can't control it that stupid warlock has a hold on me. I try to miss him with my fire balls as much as I can but he's getting injured and becoming more slower and I'm afraid he will not being able to dodge them any longer. He suddenly stops lowering his head blood and sweat running down his face. His body bloody from where he was grazed. I listen to his breathing its heavy making him sound completely exhausted. His clothes torn from where I've struck him. I don't know why this image of him bloody and weak threatens to bring tears to my eyes but it does. His body trembles as he looks up at me with those intense violet eyes. He starts to take steps towards me again. My eyes widen and I shake my head no at him. He shrugs me off giving me a sad smile he's only about eight steps away from me.
Kill him the voice of the warlock Stomas in my head says as a loud ringing in my head causes pain. I fist my hands together at my side biting the inside of my cheek trying to not obey his commands but I need this loud ringing to stop it's excruciating. Ace is getting closer but I refuse to kill him. I put my shield up in front of me if he touches it he's going to get shocked that should teach him to back off so I wont have to kill him. He stops a few feet away from me and gives me the most determined smile I've ever seen causing a wave of heat to spread over my skin. His eyes glowing with some sort of heat within them and i'm not going to lie this look from him and that smile makes my heart flutter to where it's beating hard against my rib cage. I stand there in a lust filled daze my breathing picking up speed i've seen that look somewhere before I know I have. I bite my lip as we stare at each other completely unaware of the fight going on around us.

"Kitten" he says his voice pleads me his eyes looking at me with such an intensity and need

my heart nearly jumps out of my chest at the simple name he just called me. Kill him now! what are you doing?! Stomas shouts in my head and the ringing intensifies. I yelp in pain dropping to my knees clawing at my head. Ace tries to get to me but he's knocked back by my shield.

"Damn it Harper put down your shield!" he yells at me from the other side

I shake my head no at him looking up to make sure he's okay my eyes watering from the pain in my head. I try to fight Stomas's control over me I can feel my hand beckoning the fire ball. I watch stunned as Ace tries to break through my shield to get to me. He's acting as if the electricity's not effecting him even though his skin is getting scorched.

I gasp "Ace. Don't come near me please" I cry as I hide my hand behind my back so the ball of fire doesn't get thrown at him

"Harper" he says between clenched teeth "i'm not afraid let me through"
