Chapter Twenty One

ACES POV

I follow Heidi down the hall to her room that I provided her until we get Harper back. Eventually she'll live here in the pack house when she finishes her warrior training but she might as well already be one with all of the help she's provided me. I open the door for her and let her go first then I follow after, closing the door behind me. My eyes fall on a short petite elderly woman with long silver hair that's braided over her shoulder. She's dressed in a yellow floor length dress with tiny pink roses designed on the fabric standing by the window looking out at the woods. She turns her eyes, they're a dark brown, and smiles at Heidi and I. I can see where Harper gets her looks from as I stare at the woman so this is what Harper's going to look like in about fifty years?

"No not really young man I'm a hundred and seven it took me a while to look like this" she smiles at me

I look at her confused "How did-"

"I'm an old witch pup don't look at me like I have two heads all though I just might I'm not fully there yet but I'm working on it" she winks at me

I look over at Heidi and she rolls her eyes smiling "Granny this is the future alpha, Ace Reynolds Harper's mate. Ace this is our Granny, Valerie Rosemary"

I give her my most polite smile and hold out my hand "It's nice to meet you Mrs. Rosemary"

she scuffs taking my hand "Please call me Val, Mrs.Rosemary's my mother"

"Val" I nod

She stops shaking my hand as her eyes flash to white before going back to brown I look at her with my eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

Heidi comes up behind me "Granny can read minds and have visions she also can control the weather. She's a good palm reader too"

"She says shes a hundred and seven but she doesn't look a day over sixty" I observe whispering to Heidi

Heidi smiles and shrugs with her hands behind her back "Witches age slowly something to look forward to with Harper" she smiles sadly her voice cracking by saying Harper's name I can tell it's taking everything in her to keep her barrier from breaking

"You are Harper's undoing" Val says to me quietly

for the third time I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion I get ready to speak but Heidi cuts me off "Granny you're going to have to be slow with him he doesn't know much about witches"

"yes, yes of course. Have they told you nothing about Harper's curse?"

I shrug "I know that she's a rare Silver Wolf there hasn't been one in five hundred years. I know she comes from a background of Alpha's and Witches and Warlocks. I know she's still afraid to love me because she's afraid for me if her powers take her over" I say repeating everything that Harper told me the night that we mated my heart flutters when my mind drifts back to the memories of that night I snap out of it when Val starts snapping her fingers in front of my face

"Pay attention boy you're missing the good part" she glares at me causing me to chuckle Harper is so much like Val "Now as I was saying it started with Harper's great ancestor the very first Silver Wolf on my side of the family, Mertle Rosemary. She gave up her self to her powers after her true love was killed by hunters. She went on a rampage of revenge and eventually her powers were to much for her and they killed her after the damage was done."

"So how did that curse the whole family?" I question

"The Silver Wolf is both a blessing and curse given by the Moon Goddess. Every five hundred years someone is chosen in our family to be the Silver Wolf. Harper is number twenty to be chosen to be the Silver Wolf. When you are chosen you are to either do good or do bad. If you are to do bad you suffer a horrible death and everyone you love suffers as well. If you do good you are to be a leader and be a great role model. You are to lead werewolves to greatness and protect them and be a father or a mother figure to them"
