I saw reptiles painted onto the dark green door, and some were on the limestone bricks. The whole building gave off that jungle vibe. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open. The wood floor below me creaked as I walked through to the lobby. The wall had a jungle painted with various reptiles and vines hanging down. They even added real vines hanging from the ceiling, with rubber snakes attached.
"Hi, can I help you?" A husky voice startled me from behind. I squealed and turned around quickly.
"Adam!" I breathed, my heart was racing. "You don't scare people like that!"
"Eh, oh well." He winked, "come on you need to meet the rest of the team." I was led out of the lobby through an employee door. We walked down a hall, until we were met with a fork.
Left or right fork, NOT a dinner one!
We walked down the left into what I assume was a break room. A man and woman sat over a map arguing. Their blonde hair was sticking up in every direction.
"We should go this way!!"
"ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?! YOU WALK ALONG THE RIVER!" Screamed the woman, she arms were flailing around.
"And get attacked by mosquitos?! NO THANKS!" He countered back. I watched them bicker back and forth about left, rights and rivers.
"May, Jack? This is Cleo, she's new. Stop scaring her!" Both of their eyes shot up.
"Cleo tell my stupid husband that the river is the best option, unless he wants to be eaten by a snake!"
"Tell my idiot wife, that we SHOULD be away from the river!" I raised my eyebrows at Jack.
"You better apologize to her, and quick." I laughed at his paled face.
"OH, um I meant beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. I'm so sorry, please don't make me sleep on the couch again!" The grown man was on he knees begging for forgiveness.
I looked over the map and thought about both options.
"Think about this, if you want to see certain animals, deeper is better. And the mosquitoes will be horrible everywhere in the Amazon."
"In two months all four of us are going to the amazon, and we like to procrastinate... a lot!"
"OK BEST FIRST DAY EVER!" I started to get colder, when I looked behind me Adam and Jack were gone.
