"I'm terrible at skating!" LIES! "I'll get hurt!"
Adam's eyes sparkled in excitement, "I'll make sure you don't hurt that pretty little head of yours." He patted my head, I scowled.
His necklace was on time of his shirt, glowing brightly. I touched the gem, softly running my hand against his chest a few times. He closed his eyes and braced himself against my desk. I heard him suck in a breath.
"Why has your necklace been glowing all day?"
"Why is yours glowing?" His raspy voice countered.
"I don't know, but then again lots of strange things have been happening." We walked out the door, and into the parking lot and down to my house. I'm not sure why, but it just felt right.
"Really? Like what?"
"Come inside, and I'll tell you." My mom was still at work. So, I knew we had the house to ourselves. Our hands were intertwined as I led him through the front door, and up to my room. The German Sheppard ran behind us and dashed in my room first.
"Adam meet fish, Fish meet Adam."
"You named your dog fish?" He interjected. Adam shook his head in disbelief.
"Cleo are you home?" My mom walked into the house.
I guess she was finally home...
We walked back down the damn stairs, into the living room. My mom took one look at Adam and I and grinned. We were attacked in a bear hug, but I could care less. The feeling of Adam touching me drove me crazy.
"Erm, mom? What are you doing?" I wheezed out. Instead of getting an answer, Adam and I were thrown on the couch.
"He found her! He found her!" She giggled. Adam rolled his eyes.
"So, tell me about the weird things." I explained about the heat flashes and how I felt being next to Adam.
"I saw someone in black and almost passed out, it was suffocating me."
"That was me."
"Well is happened in the reef too."
"I was snorkeling with Jack not to far from you guys." He grinned.
"YOU ASS! I ALMOST DIED!" I screamed hitting Adams rock hard chest.
"Cleo calm down, or I'll come home completely bruised up." He held my small hands in his.
"What the hell happened, I was so scared." I whispered, a tear rolled down my cheek as my eyes focused on a thread on the couch cushion. Adam wiped the tears with his thumb, and lifted my face, so our eyes met.
"Why don't you two go up to Cleo's room and talk." I stood up and Fish was at my side. I held on to his collar and had him lead me. We closed the door and sat down on my bed.
"There's a reason for the flashes." I stayed quiet and listened. "11 years ago, when I was about 13, my mom told me a story behind the necklace. She said that there were gold diggers, and fakes, people who would want to use me. Legend told that when you found the girl you were destined to marry, things like that would happen."
"That doesn't explain why I passed out." Adam shifted and placed his hand on my thigh.
"When the bond is strong enough, that happens, well up until we properly meet. Couldn't let you suffer like that, so I walked up to you at the beach. I scooched closer into his body and sighed.
"Did Jack and May know?"
"He figured it out."
"So, you're my happily ever after?"
"Looks like it." He laughed. I looked into his deep green eyes, slowly mine traveled down to his lips, then back up to his black hair. Slowly he came in closer, my heart skipped a beat. I longed to feel his lips against mine. I grew excited, we moved in in closer and our lips were mere millimeters apart.
"KIDS DINNER IS READY!!!" I bounced back.
"You tease!" He laughed. "Oh yeah the appointment for the vaccines is next week."
We sat down at the table as mashed potatoes and gravy were placed in front of us.
"What appointment?" My mom looked at us curiously.
"We just need to take care of a few things before we leave for a work trip, in about two months."
"Oh, Mary never told me anything."
"Actually mom, I don't work for her, I work for Adam."
"Oh really, where?"
"At the reptile sanctuary."
"Ok, where are you guys going?" She asked while cutting her chicken.
