"The amazon!" She dropped her utensils on the plate.

"If it helps, this is my sixth trip." Interjected Adam.

"How long will you be gone?" I looked at the very hot man next to me.

"All past expeditions are a minimum of 8 months."

"8 months!?" I yelped.

"Inside voice dear." I looked at my mother astonished. I was leaving for up to a year with a man, to one of the most dangerous places in the world! And she acts like it's nothing!!!!!

"How old are you?"

"24, ma'am."

"Wow, and how long have you worked at the sanctuary?"

"Actually, I own it." I smiled at the incredible man sitting next to me.

"I won't see dad this year." Adam furrowed his eyebrows.

"Cleo's father is actively serving in the military." Adam placed his hand in mine and squeezed it comfortingly.

"Thank you for dinner Elizabeth, but sadly I must get going."

"I'll walk you out." We stood under the moonlight.

"You'll love the amazon, once you get over the mosquitos."

"I can't wait." I hugged Adam and watched as he disappeared into the night. Quietly I walked back inside, chills attacked my body. I felt things get darker and colder, quite depressing to be honest. My mom walked over to the kitchen laptop. We always left it on just in case dad called. Most of the time he doesn't, but its nice having hope. My father Sargent Gary Stone has been gone for 12 years, we see him once a year, if we're lucky. My mom takes it the hardest, not being able to see the man you love.

"I'm going to bed." Fish was already sprawled over my bed, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
