(I think the prompt was to refuse to fit in or to stand out, something along those lines, I don't quite remember. I hope you enjoy anyway!)

I live in dark times, literally. My whole family, my friends, this area in general, are all Dark wizards and witches. I was born and raised here, surrounded by darkness. It's all I knew. There are cold and cruel people here, they love the suffering of others. They cackle at the black magick they produce onto man, and that's what they taught me. I admit to my cruelty of earlier years, but everything changed when I saw that Light. The boundaries of our land are forbidden to cross. It is said that those who leave never return, but my curiosity got the best of me. One day, I wandered to the boundary, determined to find out what lay across it. Dark magick was the strongest I had known, and at that time I was arrogant. What could possibly defeat the Dark? No such weapon existed. So I walked, amused, to the edge. Something shifted up ahead. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a gleaming...thing...? I didn't know what  it was, but it filled me with hope, love, good feelings. Could the legends of "Light" be true? Before I could find out, I myself was found. Paralyzed under magick control, boundary patrol carried me away, but it was too late. I had already seen the Light. That night, after I was returned home and I endured my mother's ranting about how stupid I was, I went to my room to rest on my bed. Staring up to my dim light bulb, I began to ponder what I saw. The memories made me feel happy again, and then I made my decision. From this moment on, I will be a Light wizard! Though I wasn't sure how. Patrol was on higher alert and I was under suspicion. I couldn't let this go, though. The next day, I went to my hideout and collected any book I could find on this mythical Light. After a month of research and dodging sharp questions from those who assume I'm up to no good, or at least, less "good" than the average dark wizard or witch, I made my first little ball of Light. It went out in seconds but I had finally accomplished some Light magick! More months passed and I was growing amazingly skilled in the craft. Soon, I was learning healing and life magick. Those who Dark magick ruined, I'd bring back up secretly. Though, the suspicions were growing stronger. "That boy is too good for his own good!" I'd hear behind my back. Almost a year after my trip to the boundary, I was finally discovered. People who had caught onto my practices found my hideout and the hunt began. Spell after cruel spell was thrown my way, but for once, someone used the weapon against the Dark. I ran fast, giving my own Light spells to hunters behind me, and I arrived the boundary. The Light, I've come to realize was sunlight, glowed in front of me, and I smiled, slowing to a stop. Confused, my pursuers ended their onslaught of attacks. I turned to face them, my smile illuminated by my magick, and I told them, "Remember my name, Jeremiah Salo Feran, as I will return one day and bathe this Dark land in purity." Once I saw my message settle, I walked ahead alone to begin my new life. Sunlight shone on my skin and the Dark within me was no longer existing.
