part 1.

Aiden slid into the back row seat with a hand trudging through his heavy brown locks. With a surreptitious glance to his left, panic gave a sharp jolt through his veins. A quick peer around over the room as the teenagers fell in only arose a bit of his worries.

Where is she?

Lulling his head back against his chair, his eyelids fell closed with a sigh pushing out his lips. Despite realizing that they were only friends to begin with, it still hurt to have Lilian push him way amidst all the progress they were making.

Don't friends share things?

Don't they confide in each other?

But there was one question that continued to bug Aiden at the threshold of his mind every time he saw her.

...Are they only just friends in actuality?

Just in time, the bell rang loudly through the hallways and into the classrooms. With a groan, everyone mustered into their rightful seats as the teacher began to commence their lecture. Hopeful, he stared at the door for the lucky lady to make her entrance. Nevertheless, his eyes soon began to strain and the unwelcoming reality sat on his shoulders.

Making his way to his lunch table, the loud noises of the jittery hungry teenagers surrounded him.

"Hey!"

His head shot up at the feminine voice by his ear, hope surging through him abundantly. But as soon as it came, disappointment and guilt fell back in.

"Hi, Amoli. How are you?" He offered with a weak smile, as she pulled a seat open next to him.

"I'm doing great! How are you, though? You don't look all too well." Muscles in his body tensed at the revelation as she ran her examination allover him.

"N-no, I'm doing the same. I'm fine, thanks."

His eyes stuck to the tiles of the floor with shy breaths flowing out his nostrils in bated silence. He heard a few shuffles of the seat scrapping against the floor, leading his eyes from the floor to the now standing legs in front of him.

"I got a class to get to after this, but I hope you feel better for later. Alright?" She told him with a pat on his shoulder.

"Yeah, totally." A eager smile burst through the corners back at him with a squeeze through his shirt before jogging off.

Wringing his fingers in his lap, he felt the strings of anxiety whim his appetite away in his worry.

"What are you doing, Aiden? She's a friend that didn't come in today. Big whoop." He muttered resentfully to himself as he pulled out a container of his lunch. Sliding off the cover, he dragged a sandwich to his mouth with a harsh bite.

She's a friend, dumbass.

Gulping painfully, he screwed off the cap of one of his water bottles to quickly down.

Friend.

Forcing himself to cheer up for the rest of the day, he stomached the rest of his class periods with a wide smile. He didn't have to be upset. He had a whole hang out planned tonight at 8. If anything, he should be bouncing off the walls. Closing his locker, he placed his forehead against the coolness of the metal.
