I hear a buzzing that makes me furrow my brow before I realise I left my phone on vibrate from singing at the bar. I pick it up seeing who is calling and a bit of worry enters my body before I pick up the call.
"Isa could you come help us with someone who is about to phase? Embry says you know the person pretty well and he might be calmer if you are here."
"Who is phasing Paul?"
"I hoped you wouldn't ask that. Embry says you call him Jake and you've been friends with him since birth."
"Damnit not Jake. Alright I'm on my way, but it'll take a few hours."
I hang up before rushing downstairs to see Alice waiting for me and I feel her worry flow into me. Jasper flits I'm feeling it as well as I come to a stop in front of Alice. She worries her fingers as she thinks of an easy way to explain whatever she needs to explain to me.
"The vision is going to happen when you get back to Forks later. I would guess it's because of that phone call you just got so please be prepared."
"Thanks, Al. I'll see you when I get back from this."
She nods and I flit to my bike before speeding all the way to the reservation knowing I have to be there. It could be dangerous for me to be there being a vampire near a newly phased wolf, but this is my best friend we're talking about. I nervously ride towards La Push knowing he could,in the throws of the first phasing, kill me, but I've known Jake for far too long. He's the younger brother I always wanted and I don't want him to be alone the first time he phases because it's a terrifying experience for anyone. I wasn't there for Embry, but I can be there for Jake. My thoughts are interrupted by my phone ringing in my pocket. Thankfully I decided to bring my Bluetooth and press the button to accept the call that is incoming.
"Hello."
"Donia, I don't have to tell you to be careful do I?" Edward softly questions.
"No, I know to be on my toes because it's a first phase which presents a danger in itself. Being a vampire and going near at that time is another danger in itself. Where are you at?"
"Donia, I didn't tell anyone for a very good reason and I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about whether or not I'm okay while I'm gone."
"You can say that all you want Eddie, but that won't change my mind. Seriously, where are you at?"
"I'm in London right now, but I'm leaving tomorrow. I don't know where I'll end up, but I'll text you. I'm only doing this because it'll keep you from calling me everyday to check up on me."
"Alright I'll tone down the protective streak that's running right now. See you later Eddie."
We hang up and just about a hundred miles from La Push I stop on the side of the road to make my call. I call Sam first so I can the information I need, but he doesn't pick up the phone making me frown. I call Jared just in case Sam is out looking for Jake, but he doesn't pick up either making my worry mount. The Alpha and Beta are both not picking up their phone which means Jake could be in the wind. I call Emily knowing Sam wouldn't leave without telling her where he's going so I'm hoping she'll pick up. When the phone connects and she answers I breathe a sigh of relief.
"Isa, what's going on? I thought you weren't going to call here?"
"I tried to get in touch with Sam and Jared, but they aren't answering their phones. Would you happen to know where they are at?"
"Well they just left a few minutes ago to Billy's house because a new wolf is phasing tonight."
"Thank you so much Li. That's exactly what I needed and I'll see you in a few hours."
We hang up and I speed over to the Black household in an attempt to help if I'm needed. I stop outside to see Billy sitting outside with a serious expression until I drive up. He looks shocked seeing me here and I give a sheepish smile. That is until I hear something from inside making my eyes flick that way. I take an unnecessary deep breath before wiping any emotion from my face.
"They called you for help?" Billy asks me in a strong voice.
"Yes, sir. They called me a few hours ago and said that Jake would phase tonight. Embry wanted me to come in case it could make it easier for Jake to have a familiar face here."
"If you stick around there will be a bonfire in a few days. We always do it for the new wolf and any imprint that is found. We were going to have one for you, but you were busy trying to keep track of things."
"He'll be okay Billy. We'll make sure he makes it through the phasing alright and I'll come by afterwards."
I slip into the house to see them trying to pull Jake out of the house as he struggles against them in the midst of a fever. I flit to their side placing a hand to his forehead almost yanking it back for the heat coming from it. I keep my hand there though knowing it'll feel nice compared to the fever. His eyes flutter open to stare at me in confusion before he realises who I am.
"Hey Jake. You're gonna be okay in a few hours just like normal."
He falls unconscious and I help them pull him into the forest where there will be more room for his first phasing. We all sit spaced around just in case he tries to run away from us. Paul wraps his arm around my waist as we slowly watch Jake go through his first phasing.
