Chapter 17: Keeping An Eye On Bella

It's been about three weeks since the whole motorcycle fiasco and I haven't left Bella's side since, unless it was to run patrol with the guys.

Victoria keeps making appearances but we keep losing her at the border.

Today while dad was at work Bella saved the bikes our neighbor was gonna send to the scrap yard, and made our way to Jake's.

Once we arrived Jake came running out with the biggest smile on his face.

"Bella! Skylar! Where the hell have you been locas?" Jake said spinning us each in a hug.

"We, uh, brought you something." Bella said pointing her thumb to the back of her truck, then pulled the cover revealing the bikes.

"Wow. Scrap metal. You shouldn't have." Jake chuckled.

"She saved them from the junk yard." I added.

"I figured it'd cost more to fix than their worth. But then I figured if I had mechanic type friends to help me out...." Bella trailed off.

"Ah. Me and Sky being the mechanic type friends." Jake nodded. "Sky, I get. But since when are you into motorcycles?"

"Since now, lately." Bella nodded. "I get it if you two think this is totally stupid and reckless."

"It's totally stupid and reckless." I nodded then looked at Jake as we smiled at each other.

"When do we start?" Jake asked excitedly.

"Um. Now. Please." Bella smiled.

"Alright." Jake nodded as we went towards the truck about to lift it off.

"Oh, be careful those things are really heavy so......." Bella trailed off as we picked up the bikes off the truck and set them down. "Guys your like buff. Sky, how? And Jake, when did that happen? You're only 16."

"Age is just a number baby, what are you two like now? 40?" Jake joked.

"Ha-ha-ha. Really funny Jack Ass." I teased.

"It feels like that sometimes." Bella nodded.

Later

We were working on the bikes when Bella turned off the radio.

"That song's good. You don't like it?" Jake asked.

"I, uh. I'm not that really into music, anymore." Bella lied.

"Alrighty, no music." Jake nodded fixing the bike with me as Bella took a seat next to us.

"So I was thinking, if we are gonna do this everyday, and hopefully we will, we have to like fit some homework in there somewhere. I don't want Billy thinking we're bad influences on you."

"You two influence me? Please." Jake scoffed.

"We're older than you. So that makes us the influencers and you the influencee." I stated.

"No. No. No." Jake laughed. "My size and knowledge base actually makes me older than you two. Because of your(Bella) general paleness and your(Sky) lack of know-how."

"We convinced you to build two two-wheeled death machines. Doesn't that make you kinda young and naive?" Bella pointed out.

"Okay, so where do we stand?" Jake asked.

"We're 35." Bella said.

"And you may be 32." I smirked.

"Oh come on." Jake laughed.

"Yo, Jake. You in here?" A familiar voice asked knocking on the door as Bella tried covering the bikes.

"Don't worry about it. It's just my boys." Jake told Bella.

"Awe, you mean you guys didn't come to see lil' 'ol me?" I asked innocently as Embry and Quil walked in.

"Sky!" They cheered as they both pulled me into a hug.

"Hey." I smiled and pulled out of the hug.

"Hey guys, this is Sky's 1/2 sister Bella. Bella that's Quil and Embry." Jake introduced.

"I'm Quil Attera." Quil tried flirting with Bella but she sat there awkwardly. "So the bike building storys true."

"Oh, yeah. Sky and I taught him everything he knows." Bella said.

"What about the part where your his girl friend?" Quil asked Bella.

"Uh, we're friends, ya know." Bella said awkwardly.

"Ooh, burn." Embry laughs.

"Actually remember when I told you she's a girl and a friend." Jake tried to cover his tracks.

"Embry, do you ever remember him making that distinction?" Quil asked.

"Nope." Embry smirked.

"So you guys have girlfriends. That's awesome." Bella said making Jake and I laugh.

"Yeah right." I stated. "Last time I heard Quil was taking his cousin to prom."

This made Jake laugh harder.

"Yeah, that's still a riot." Quil said then turned to Jake. "You want funny Black I'll give you funny."

The two boys started to play-fight as Embry and I walked to Bella.

"Geese." Bella laughed.

"That holds illegal." Jake said trying to getting out of Quil's hold.

"I got five bucks on Quil." Embry challenged.

"You're on." Bella and I nodded.
