Chapter 20: Meeting Hope

A Couple Days Later
Skylar's POV

"You ready?" Emmett asked as he pulled into our my drive way as I help Hope so she'd stop crying.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"You sure Bella won't be here for a while?" Emmett asked.

"Yeah, she'll be down at Jake's until dark working on those bikes." I nodded.

"I still don't believe it. Someone as danger prone as Bella shouldn't be even in the same sentence of motorcycles." Emmett laughed.

"Right." I chuckled as Hope gurgled happily. "Let's get this done and over with."

Emmett nodded and came around opening my door before grabbing Hope's dipper bag, then lead us up to the door.

Emmett knocked on the door as I held Hope and after a minute Dad opened the door.

"Thank God your home!" Dad sighed and pulled me into a soft hug. "And is this the little one you asked to bring in?"

"Yup." I smiled. "Dad meet Hope. Hope this old guy is Uncle Charlie."

"Oh, ha-ha-ha." Dad rolled his eyes with a smirk and let us in, but stopped Emmett.

"Dad?" I asked worried.

"Emmett." Dad frowned.

"Hello Chief Swan, it's good to see you again." Emmett said nervously.

"What happened to Charlie, son?" Dad laughed causing me to let out a breath  I didn't know I was holding in. "Come in, come in."

"Thank you." Emmett smiled and put the dipper bag on the floor as we sat on the love seat.

"So, how was the drive?" Dad asked ammused.

"Longer than expected since we have, and I quote, 'precious car-go'. I don't know how many times we've stopped after getting out of Louisiana." I sighed tiredly as Emmett took Hope carefully into his arms.

"Can I?" Dad asked gesturing towards Hope.

"Of course." Emmett nodded carefully setting her in Dad's arms.

"She's so precious. I remember when you and Bells were this little." Dad smiled. "If I had any doubts before they'd all be out the window now."

"Other than getting fussy in a car she's actually really quiet when we're not traveling. Except for the occasional dipper change and fussing for food." I nodded.

"I hope you two aren't thinking of giving me a grandchild so soon just because you're friends had this child." Charlie said eyeing Emmett challengingly.

"Dad!" I stated fustrated.

"Of course not, Charlie." Emmett assured with a chuckle.

"Good." Dad nodded.

"Okay, well you guys keep an eye on Hope. I'm gonna hop in the shower real quick then I'm taking Hope with me down to the rez." I stated.

"What?" Emmett frowned.

"What do you mean what?" I stated crossing my arms.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Emmett asked and led me to my room.

"What is wrong with you?" I asked.

"I don't think it's a good idea to bring Hope down there. Not when I can't protect the two of you." Emmett stated.

"Emmett she'll be fine. And you know what, I'm kinda offended. They're my family, which makes Hope family if she's important to me." I frowned.

"You know that's not what I meant." Emmett sighed.
