(Tristan Asher)

Scarlet and I had our second full moon on Saturday night. We had a little picnic in the forest before joining Rick and Neal for the full moon ceremony and then the run. I can't help but watch Scarlet and realize how close we came to the deadline, just short a few days.

Sure enough, the next day while I'm in my home office and Scarlet is out shopping, my father gives me a call.

"What do you want?" I answer, not really having time to listen to his lectures as I prepare for my trip to the Royals.

"Well you're alive, so I'm assuming you completed mating her," Dad says indifferently, "your brother is still having trouble with the Half Moon Pack."

"That's not my problem," I reply with a shrug as I look over some files, "maybe instead of obsessing over my sex life you might want to obsess over his, seeing that an alliance rests on it."

Dad lets out a string of curse words before saying, "I don't what that slut did to him. He just can't seem to commit to Olivia."

I grip my pen harder as my voice hardens, "Or maybe your precious son isn't as loyal to you as you thought. Good luck with that, Father," I say before hanging up on him.

As I read over some last minute documents the morning of my trip, there's a knock on my office door. I look up, "Come in."

Scarlet opens the door, "Hey, can I talk to you? I hope you're not too busy."

"No, what's up?" I ask her, closing the file in front of me, giving her my full attention.

She takes a seat opposite of me and says, "So I was at Clarissa's yesterday and she got me thinking...instead of going to the police academy I was thinking about becoming a Knighthunter."

I raise my eyebrows. Never in a million years have I ever thought Scarlet would decide this. I lean into the table, "Are you sure?"

"Well, I thought you could tell me a little more details about being one, before I make a final decision," she shrugs.

"Well, you'd have to go to boot camp for six months and then you'd be assigned to a team. Then the first year is all travel. You'll barely be home, maybe once in two months if that. After your first year, you can change when or where you work. You get paid at the end of every mission and it varies, but the Royals are generous," I give her the run down, "did Clarissa tell you about the Shadows?"

"Yeah, she told me about them. It wasn't all pleasant," she admits.

"I'm glad she didn't make the job seem easy. If you're serious about this, I can get you into the boot camp I went to. I just know the people there and I know they won't go easy on you. You'll get trained right which means you won't get killed in the field," I tell her truthfully. A part of me doesn't like this idea at all, but the other part of me is a little excited.

"Yeah, I'm down," she replies firmly.

"I still want to talk a little more about this after I come back from my meeting," I say because I don't want either of us to make any hasty decisions when it's something so big.

She nods and gets up, "Okay, I'll let you get back to your work."

When the team and I get to the Royal Palace, we immediately glance at each other, wondering why there are so many cars circling the driveway up to the main entrance. Neal comes to a slow stop and we pile out, leaving the weapons in the car.

"What's going on?" Christian asks, coming to stand beside me.

I shrug, "Not really our business. Let's get some food, rest up, and find out what this meeting's all about."
