(Scarlet James)
"Stop fidgeting," Dad scolds me as we wait at our assigned spot beyond the trees of the clearing with our arms linked.
"It's cold," I reply, shivering a little in my sleeveless flowing white dress. Tristan wanted this wedding to happen as soon as possible and after countless back and forth with my mother and Anna, they settled on an early December wedding. My heels start digging into the moist grass and the wind makes my veil move slightly. The bouquet of crisp red roses smell amazing as we wait.
The clearing is set up to look like a secret garden. The benches for the guests are covered with white cloth while a rose pot sits next to each. Tristan stands on the other end of the clearing with Rick, who will officiate our wedding, at the altar. Tristan is dressed in a white suit with a silk forest green shirt and white tie. His hair is cropped short to satisfy Anna's orders.
The music starts and everyone positions themselves to face my two bridesmaids; Clarissa and Sarah, my roommate from the Academy, dressed in dark and light green long dresses. They walk down the aisle with their arms linked with their groomsmen partners; Neal and Keith. The groomsmen are dressed in tuxes with their shirt colors matching their bridesmaid partners. Anna, my maid of honor walks down with Christian, Tristan's best man, after them.
Dad looks down at me, "Don't ruin the moment for me."
I blink, "I thought that was my line, Dad."
He smiles as we start walking down the aisle. I smile brightly at everyone before my gaze locks on Tristan's breathless expression.
"Breathe, Tristan," I try not to grin like an idiot.
"You keep taking my breath away. Not my lungs fault," he bites down on his bottom lip.
Dad and I reach them and then Dad gives me away to Tristan, before taking his seat beside my mom in the front row.
Rick begins the ceremony. Tristan and I say our vows and 'I do's' before Rick pronounces us husband and wife.
"You may kiss the bride," Rick grins, gesturing Tristan after Tristan puts my wedding ring on my finger. He licks his lips as he lifts my veil and kisses me. I hear the girls squealing as the guys chuckle and the moms cry. Tristan pulls away and takes my left hand into his right.
"Let's get out of here," he telepaths.
"I'm yours to take away," I smile. He chuckles softly before we walk back down the aisle, this time together. Flower petals are thrown at us, as the girls follow behind. Just as Tristan and I enter the forest, I throw my rose bouquet over my shoulder to whoever will catch it. Then I pick up my dress and run away with Tristan.
"How are you holding up in those heels?" he asks as we pass trees and bushes.
"Alright. Just avoid anything I might trip over or tear my dress," I tell him.
"I have a better idea," he slows down, turning to me before picking me up in his arms bridal style.
I laugh and kiss him, before he continues walking. He isn't watching where he is going with his eyes stuck on my face, yet his strides are graceful and confident.
Then he stops and bends down on one knee so he can lay me down on the ground of the clearing I can never forget. I realize that the area he placed me is covered in red, pink, yellow, white, and orange rose petals.
"Beautiful," he says, staying beside me on his knee as he asks, "Remember this place?"
"How can I not?" I say, "It's where you..."
