(Scarlet James)
We were on our way to Salt Lake City when Tristan gets a message from the angel, saying to continue the mission without him. He got caught up somewhere else and will join us later. So we continue to San Francisco.
It's been about a week and a half since we started the mission. We get to San Francisco just after sunset as the city lights turn on and view is breathtaking. Portland's skyline is gorgeous but San Francisco is on another level.
"Pretty huh?" Clarissa smiles, nudging me.
"It's beautiful," I reply as Tristan drives us through the city and takes us to our next safe house.
Neal turns to look at us, "The safe house we're headed to is owned by Elena Montenaj."
"The lost vampire princess?" I ask. Elena was founded six years ago by her sister. She was adopted by humans when she was younger, but when her vampire cravings came in, her sister brought her back to the supernatural world. She'd been the big story forever in the supernatural newspaper, Vicious World. She's also been a huge contributor to the war causes.
"Yup. She won't be there, so we have the place to ourselves, unless other Knighthunters are there," Neal answers me.
Twenty minutes later, Tristan parks in front of the safe house. It's not a house, it's an estate. We drove up a hill to get to this huge home at the edge of it, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The four of us get out of the SUV and take our bags into the house. A butler lets us in and shows us to our rooms before leaving us to do our thing.
"This place is unbelievable," I tell Tristan.
"It is," he nods, "it's too bad she doesn't spend much time here."
"Well, I'm sure she has twenty other houses that need attention too," I laugh.
"So do you," he points out and I look at him confused. He comes up to me and kisses me deeply, "you can live wherever you want, Scarlet. There's a house for us just about anywhere."
"I just want to be wherever you are," I whisper back, honestly.
He smiles softly, caressing my cheek, "Promise."
"I promise," I confirm.
He checks his watch for the time and asks, "Can you be ready for our date in an hour? That way we'll have most of the night before we have to go hunt."
"I can be ready in an hour," I assure him.
He grins, "Perfect. I'll see you in an hour then."
Tristan closes the door behind him as he leaves. I suddenly remember I have nothing to wear and dig through my bags to find something, anything decent to wear. I settle on black pants and a matching off the shoulder cropped top. Then I get started on hair and makeup. I'm in the middle of putting my fake lashes on when there's a knock on the door.
I rush over to open it and find the butler on the other side, holding a few clothing bags.
"These were sent for you, ma'am," he hands them over to me.
"Um, thank you?" I say hesitantly, taking the bags from him. He nods and turns to leave. Clarissa peaks out of her room and gives me a questioning look. I gesture her to come over. She does and I close the door of my room.
"What's going on?" she asks, settling on the bed.
I set the bags down and look inside, "Tristan and I are going out tonight on a date."
"Nice," Clarissa grins, fingering her long brown hair.
My breath catches as I pull out a sparkling gold dress. Clarissa wrinkles her nose, "Is he taking you clubbing?"
