(Scarlet Asher)
Jade hands me another glass of champagne and smirks, "Drink up, Luna."
"Are you trying to get me drunk?" I question her intentions.
"Oh please, it'll take you more than three glasses of champagne to get drunk," Anna rolls her blue eyes and Clarissa laughs.
I point at the three of them, "You three together are trouble. I'm watching you."
They laugh, as Tristan comes up behind me and kisses my cheek, "Come with me."
I glance at him and abandon my drink to see what he's up to. He takes me by the hand and leads me away from the party in our backyard. I struggle to keep up, "Where are we going?"
He pauses to turn around and smile, biting his bottom lip. Then without a warning he picks me up, bridal style, and continues walking. Tristan kisses my forehead, "I want to show you something."
"What is it?"
"Just wait," he grins brightly. I rest my head on his shoulder as he whispers, "You look beautiful tonight. I just had to steal you away."
I smile, "Thank you. You look really handsome yourself."
"Oh well, when I got the freaking hot wife on my arms, I have to look the part," he chuckles.
"Oh shut up, you know you're handsome. You got the Asher good-looks," I remind him. If anything, I have to look the part to be Tristan Asher's wife.
"And hopefully that's all I've got," he adds, playfully.
"I love you," I raise my head to kiss his cheek.
"I love you too," he replies, before lowering me down to my feet, "we're here."
I smile and turn around to see a beautifully lit lake. There are lanterns and lights everywhere. Tristan leads me to the dock where a blanket is spread out and wine bottles are placed in a bucket on ice next to a platter of meat and cheese.
"Tristan..."
"I've been so busy lately I thought I'd make it up to you. Everyone's enjoying the party at home so we won't be interrupted," he says, wrapping me in his arms and placing a soft kiss on my neck.
"I like the sound of that," I reply, closing my eyes to take in the sensation on my neck.
When I open them, Tristan's pointing straight ahead, "You see that spot on the other side of the lake?"
It looks just like our side, with no lights, "Yeah?"
"That's where I'm going to build our home."
"Exactly like the other one?" I ask to make sure.
"Yup," he says, "unless you want it different."
"No, I don't," I shake my head, before kicking off my heels and pulling him toward the blanket. We settle down on it and Tristan takes off his blazer before resting his head on my lap.
"I wish my mom could be here to see what I'm doing with the Pack," he says quietly, watching the calm water in front of us.
"She's proud of you, Tristan. The change you're making is going to help the world," I stroke his brown hair softly.
"I just won't ever forgive my father for everything he has done to us," his voice turns hard, "to my mom, you, Caius..."
"Have you talked to him?" I ask, softly.
"My dad, no."
"Caius?" I say, hesitantly.
"No, I just think space is good for all of us right now. It's too soon," he answers me, then looks up and asks, "have you talked to him?"
