Lost in darkness

Chapter 3

Tess Pov- For most seventeen year olds senior year is one of the most memorable years of high school.  Students are looking forward to prom and debating who their going to ask to go with them. Then theirs graduation which is supposed to one of the biggest days of a persons life when they get to walk across that stage in front of friends and family cheering for you. When your home schooled it's hard to get excited for your senior year of high school.  Tess thought to herself as she started getting ready to start the day. She knew her parents was making breakfast for her downstairs which was something they did every year on the first day of school.  She used to tell them that they didn't have to go thru the trouble since she was home schooled, they would just laugh and tell her to take a seat.  She looked at her pale reflection in the mirror and she pulled her light brown hair into a pony tail, and she changed out her pj's and threw on some jeans and a black sweater. She then made her way downstairs just as her parents started to tcall her to come downstairs. " I'm already here" she said as she sat down at the table and her father closed the news paper he had been reading which was his normal route in the mornings. " So how are you feeling about it being your last year of high school" he took a slip of his coffee.  "It's just another day to me dad" she told him as she grabbed a few pancakes and put them on her plate and started to eat .  After the family had finished eating it was time for her parents to head to work which meant she had the house to herself until they came home late that afternoon. 

Her life had pretty been the same route for as long as she could remember. Her parents trusted her when it came to her school work as long as it was done before they got home from work.  She grabbed a few sodas and headed upstairs to her room closing the door behind her and turning on her ipod allowing music to feel the room. She sat down on her bed and opened her laptop and pulled up the school website to check and see what all she had to do today. For the most part her day was filled with reading and to take notes for three of her classes and she had to do a few assessments for her other three classes. It only took her four hours to finish everything for the day and she sent in her finished work and shut down the computer. 

Over the next few months she forced on nothing but her school work, most people think being home schooled was easier then going to public school. That was a lie  cause she felt like they gave home school kids more work then normal students. She barely had any free time during the week, most days she was studying for exams until way past midnight.  She worked so hard that she even was allowed to graduate early because she had all her credits and had a 4.0 grade point average. When she broke the news to her parents they were beyond proud of how hard she had worked. A few weeks later her family surprised her with a new car, she had always wanted a bug ever since she was a kid and they got her a black one for a graduation gift. 

It was a little surreal the fact she had made it to the age of seventeen and was done with high school. A few weeks after she had got the news that she was able to graduate early she filled out her college application and now it was just a waiting game to see if she got in. For weeks when her parents came home from work she would ask if she got any mail which the answer was always no.  One day Tess was feeling really weak so she spent the whole day sleeping until her mother knocked on her bedroom door. " You have a letter"  she said and Tess wanted to jump out of bed but she didn't have the energy so she asked her mother to read it to her.  Her mother came into her room and sat at the end of her bed and ripped the envelop open and started to read to aloud to her. " Dear Miss Blackwell congratulations we look forward to having you in our Fall night classes" Her mother was so happy for her daughter and hugged her lightly. Tess sat up screaming with joy as the news and then she didn't care how much energy she had she was way to excited to rest now. " Screw you Epp your not the boss of me" she screamed once her mother had left the room but she could hear her laughing from down the hallway.
