Chapter 50 (The End)

Carter opened the door and walked down the stairs with Noah close behind. He fumbled around until he found the light switch he flipped it and they both jumped back when they saw a dead Tyler on the ground and a zombified Skylar hanging from the wall with no legs.
"Oh fuck." Carter said getting teary eyed
"No, Skylar!" Noah yelled
Carter stood up and looked at her before pulling out his knife and stabbing her in the head.
"Noah, I don't know if you want to be here for what's about to happen." Carter said angrily
"I do." Noah said slightly crying

"We're getting close, let's walk from here." Jake said
Kyle shut off the truck and they got out.
They walked for a little before Kyle broke the silence
"So how long have you been friends with Noah?" Kyle asked
"A few months now, we met after." Jake said
They arrived at the house across the street from the building."
"He's got men on the roof you're good with a rifle right?" Jake asked
"Yep." Kyle said
"Alright let's get this over with. I'm going down there." Jake said.

Carter walked into the building
"Hanson, can I talk to you outside?" Carter asked
"Sure thing." He said
Dr. Hanson followed Carter outside they walked past the open basement door and to the wood line.
"You could've lived Carter if you would have just played along." Hanson said
Hanson pulled out his gun and shot Carter in the shin making him fall to the ground. He sat leaning up against a tree. Dave ran out hearing the gun shot and one of Hanson's men on the roof aimed a laser at the back of his head. Kyle shot three shots and killed all three of Hanson's roof top men.
"I don't think your gonna win this one." Carter said.
"What's going on here?" Dave asked
"This guy got your girlfriend killed." Hanson said
"Don't listen to him Dave." Carter said
"Skylars dead?" Dave asked
"Yep and it's all his fault." Hanson said
"I knew you couldn't protect her." Dave said
Noah ran over and Dave aimed his gun at him.
"You got someone I loved killed, so now I'll kill someone you love." Dave said
"It's getting interesting." Hanson said laughing
"No please." Carter said
"Do it Dave." Hanson said
"Think about what you're doing." Carter said
"Do it." Hanson said
"What so you can eat us?" Carter said
"What?" Dave asked
"We just ate Skylar!" Carter said
Carter pulled his gun and shot five shots into Hanson's chest. He fell down with a thud, Carter stood over him and shot his last two shots into Hanson's head. He knelt down and grabbed Hanson's gun and took aim at Dave. He fired one shot into Dave's shoulder but Dave shot back and hit Carter in chest and stomach. Carter fell back against the tree.
"DAD!" Noah yelled
"No... I didn't mea..." Dave got out before a bullet went through the back of his head.  He fell to the ground and Jake was standing behind him. Jake looked over to Kyle and nodded, Kyle waved and left. Noah was knelt down over Carter crying.
"Noah" Carter whispered
"What dad!" Noah asked
"Thank you." Carter whispered
"For What?" Noah asked
"Giving me a reason to live." Carter whispered before closing his eyes and ceasing to breathe.
Noah started crying.
"Noah, I can..." Jake said
"I have to... I need to." Noah said
Jake walked to the other side of the tree, he heard a loud gun shot and Noah walked around the tree. Noah put his arm around Jake and they started walking through the woods.
