Chapter 18

"Pull the trigger slowly, don't squeeze quickly it makes you flinch and miss your shot." Carter said watching everyone practice.
"They're all moving." Noah said aiming and shooting his pistol into the herd
"Well that makes since doesn't it, most people aren't gonna stand still and let you shoot them." Carter said
"How many people are we gonna be shooting at exactly?" Skylar asked leaning against the wall watching
"Six as far as I know." Carter said
"Well with the help of the Arsenal that shouldn't be to bad." Edge said
"Don't keep your finger on the trigger of you're reloading." Carter said to Sarah
"Sorry." She said back
"It's fine you guys are learning and that's what matters." Carter said
They shot at the zeds for about two more hours wasting precious ammo. Carter took his rifle back from Edge and shot some far off deadheads.
"Ok guys let's call it a day with the shooting, we don't want to draw more." Carter said
They went into the gym and made some canned food and ate.
"You know Edge with everything that's been going on it's been a while since we talked." Carter said
"Yeah it has." Edge said
"I just wanted to thank you for what you did right at the start. If it would have been anyone else they would have just killed my family and stole our supplies. So I just wanted to thank you for saving us, that little act of kindness has helped us to survive this long. Hopefully we keep surviving, and I'll try my best to repay the favor, friend." Carter said
"Honesty Carter it was nothing, I'm glad I found you guys though I don't think I would have survived this long without you. I never would have found the love of my life and I never would have been in this safe place with this amazing group of people." Edge said
"Its been nice talking to you." Carter said walking up on the box.
"You guys have shown me what I wanted to see. You shown me that you have what it takes to kill the Horsemen. That means you have what it takes to help out the Arsenal. Doing this favor for this Arsenal will bring our groups closer together. That means if we need help they can help us. We don't have to sit down and be scared anymore, we will have them looking over us through thick and thin. As of right now Axel would be considered the owner of Denver. Everyone is under his wing and that's a good thing him and his group can protect us, all of us including the aquarium and anyone else's that comes our way. Once we kill the Horsemen we will have freedom to do what we want in the area without worrying about people. The deadheads though I have a plan for them." Carter said
"This is how we stay alive. Doing what's right, and helping others who can help us." Carter said
He jumped off the box and walked over to Skylar and kissed her right in front of everyone.
"I knew it." Sarah mumbled
They stopped kissing and Carter looked at Noah.
"You know what, it fine." Noah said
Carter and Skylar looked at each other and laughed and kissed again.

15 miles away in a store

Marcus got up and wiped the tears from his eyes.
He pulled the hatchet out of his belt and ran, he jumped from shelf to shelf until he made it close to the door. He jumped off the shelf and whacked a few zeds with the hatchet he fell out the front door slamming it behind him. He was about to get up when he heard the sound of a gun hammer. He turned around and saw a man aiming at him.
"Who are you?" The man asked
"Marcus." Marcus said
"Well Marcus, I'm Elliot." Elliot said
"Hi Elliot." Marcus said
"Just though I'd let you know I'm gonna kill you now." Elliot said.
Marcus kicking him in the stomach and grabbed his gun. Marcus ran away shooting back at the Horsemen, unfortunately one of their bullets hit him in the leg. He limped off and fell in a ditch to hide, the Horsemen drove by without noticing him.
"Holy shit." Marcus said out of breath.
He limped over to a house in the woods. He walked in.
"Hello?" He asked but no one answered
He grabbed some tweezers and pulled the bullet out of his leg, then he stitched it up with some sewing string he found. He looked in the cabinet and found some .45 bullets which went in the gun he stole from Elliot. He walked out the door and noticed a large number of zeds surrounding what looked a lot like a school.
