third person's point of view

mackenzie sat by her vanity in her parent's house getting ready for the annual class of 2020 reunion party. the brunette felt both nervous and excited. finally, she would be able to reconnect with old friends but that would also mean she'd have to face johnny.

ever since their break up last year in june, things have been extremely weird. they shared friends at the time and when they split so did the group. there was a newly established wall. you were either on mackenzie's side or johnny's side.

mackenzie was nervous to rekindle her friendship with her old friends but excited to try nonetheless.

...

mackenzie sat the first half hour of the reunion in her car contemplating whether or not she should actually step foot into the building. the brunette let out an annoyed huff when someone knocked on her car window rather loudly. she turned her head to find her old friend the widely popular hayden sumerall.

after mackenzie and johnny's break up hayden was expected to join johnny's side of the wall, and so he did. before jenzie was dating kayden was inseparable; the best of friends. you wouldn't see one without the other.

the girl raised her eye's in surprise, they haven't talked in months. she rolled down her windows and gave hayden a loop-sided smile.

'ah, hayden taylor sumerall, to what do i owe you this pleasure?'

'miss mackenzie frances zigler i think you owe me- us all a catch up,' he said mirroring her smile.

'and who might this us be, taylor?' she asked fully aware who us meant. he was referring to johnny's side of the wall.

'the old squad of course france.'

'frances idiot, frances!'

'do you really think i would forgot my best friend's middle name? yeah, right! you fall for it everytime mack,' hayden says smirking. best friend? the audacity, she thought.

'ex best friend sumerall, ex,' she said showcasing her infamous sarcastic smile.

'how could i forget? you can be quite unpleasant when you want to be dear mackenzie.'

'ugh, whatever taylor. let's just go inside hay,' the girl said rolling her eyes.

'ah, i thought you forgot dearest mackenzie,' he said smiling and holding his hand out for her to take. quickly she slapped his hand away.

'ew, who are you, my mother? taylor stop with this- whatever you're doing!'

'do not disrespect the great melissa again! how dare you?!' he jokingly wiped sweat from his forehead. mackenzie rolled her eyes in response.

...

as soon as the pair stepped into the building where the reunion was being held mackenzie's eyes found her long-lost lover's.

'oh no, no no no no! uh i gotta blast taylor buh bye-' before the girl could make her way out of the door hayden was onto her.

'nu uh go talk to him or something,' mackenzie raised her eyebrows giving him the are you serious look. 'well, i don't know! but you can't just leave. suck it up buttercup!' before the brunette had the chance to protest lauren approached them.

'oh my god! mackenzieee! i haven't seen you in so long eek!' the blonde squealed waving her hands in excitement. 'wow, how have you been? it's been so long!' without giving the brunette a chance to respond the over-joyed girl pulled her in for a warm embrace.

'there, there lolo. i can't really breathe!' mackenzie let out a light chuckle.

'no it's fine just ignore me completely lauren. i feel the love, quite overwhelming actually!'

'i see all the time sumerall. you aren't special,' lauren teased.

'ouch, mind kissing it better orlando the second?' mackenzie stared in amusement. before she could make any assumptions lauren filled her in.

'no mack we aren't dating. ew, i would never! we have this bet to see how many people we can fool, and don't you worry you aren't the first.'

'second actually,' hayden added.

'first to lose,' mackenzie pouted

'uh yes the infamous words from the one and only abby lee miller,' lauren laughed.

'you are not worthy of saying her name,' hayden joked.

'says you sumerall,' the blonde remarked scrunching her nose in disgust.

'i would love to stay and witness this lovely act of i clearly love you but am in denial i see annie and we need a catch up so catch ya later love birds,' before lauren could say otherwise the brunette slipped off into the crowd.

...

'annie, hi!' mackenzie said giving one of her oldest friends a hug from behind. annie jumped in surprise. she instantly recongised the voice belonged to none other than mackenzie.

'kenzie! hi! i have missed you so much! oh my god you are glowing!'

'pft, says you annikins,' mackenzie smiled. her long-time best friend returned her smile.

'it's like we never stopped hanging out mack.'

'we never should have annikins!'

'i know i know and i'm sorry,' she said pouting.

'it's fineeee i still love you annniiieeeee,' mackenzie said twirling annie.

'and i love you too mac and cheeseeee.' her friend gave her a look in disgust.

'never. ever. call. me. that. again.' annie raised her eyebrows.

'yes yes katie leblanc.'

'mhm it's mother to you juilanna,' she said tutting.

'i would love to talk but i see brynn over there-'

'no no no go, fly away little birdy,' she said shooing annie away. annie gave her a grateful smile and hurried off to catch up with brynn. mackenzie smiled to herself. she didn't realised how much she had missed her best friend. when she turned around she locked eyes with the last person she wanted to see, johnny orlando.

'oh um hi,' mackenzie said awkwardly. she gave him a tight smile.

'h-hey,' he said giving her a small wave.

'um well i got to go-' she turned around to try and avoid a very awkward situation. johnny caught her wrist to protest.

'no, no, please stay?' he said giving her his puppy dog eyes and a cute pout. whenever he gives the brunette that look she found it very hard to say no. 'cut the crap just stay kenzieboo i refuse to take no for an answer.' she rasied her eyebrows in a joking matter.

'if i didn't know any better i'd say you're kidnapping me orlando,' she laughs.

'hey, you consented zigzag.'

ugh, what is with everyone and the terrible nicknames today? never again orlando.'

'alright alright, never again,' the green-eyed promised.

'good, now do you wanna uh get out of here? it's sort of hot and very-'

'yeah, i don't need to be convinced. anything for you kenzie,' johnny winked cheekily.

'uh one more word and i'll change my mind john,' the brunette warned.

'did i ever tell you how bossy you are ziegler?'

'only a few hundred times,' she huffed.
