changes

third person's point of view

changes. people change themselves to feel like they belong or feel like they have to change themselves just for someone to love them for who they aren't.

mackenzie ziegler was the nerdy girl of the school. quiet, shy, didn't have many friends, but had at least two friends which were nadia turner and lauren orlando.

johnny orlando was the opposite of her. he was the quarterback of the football team, a so called bad boy, friends with everyone, and girls swarmed over him.

both knew of each other through lauren. out of school they were the best of friends, but during school, they separated. neither wanted to ruin each other's reputation, so they didn't.

thing was that when word came out from the school gossiper, annie leblanc, that johnny and mackenzie had been hanging out. let's just say, no one was glad except maybe lauren.

mackenzie sighed to herself as she read the article for the 10th time. she didn't want to end this friendship, but if she wanted to make him happy, there was only one way to do that.

was to change.

johnny had the same idea. he was going to change for her, so that they could both be with each other at least. he didn't care about popularity or losing his spot on the football team.

he wanted her.

the next day was a disaster. mackenzie was wearing a black tube top with ripped jean shorts on, which johnny had a buttoned down polo shirt with some casual jeans.

both looked exactly like one another's clique, but it felt wrong. as mackenzie and johnny saw each other, they felt a wave of sorrow wash over them. they didn't want to change, but if they wanted to be together or be friends at least, they had too.

mackenzie and johnny both rushed to the theater, so they could talk before class started. surprising no one followed, cause everyone figured they should talk before they got their heads back on track.

they sat in silence. neither wanted to change from themselves. they felt like a different person and someone who they really aren't. they felt like they had to change to benefit the whole community, so they could love them for who they seem to be.

johnny started up a conversation. "soooo um we changed, for each other," he said with a hint of sadness and anger in his voice. he was anger that she changed for him but at the same time, he had changed for her.

suddenly mackenzie bursted into tears. "i didn't want to lose you, so i changed," she replied to him between her cries. johnny pulled mackenzie to his chest as he played with her hair, while she calmed down.

"i'm sorry"

"i'm sorry"

both replied to each other at the same tome, as mackenzie finally stopped crying. they stared at each other's eyes, before leaning in for a kiss.

as their lips touched, they felt like the world wasn't there. that it was their world. that they could be whoever they wanted to be. that they didn't have to change themselves to be someone they really aren't.

change.
