Chapter 52

Kol's pov

After I fed and let out all the animals, I head back to the house just as Davina walks out the door with Charlie in her arms. "Hey love" I say she turns round to face me with a smile on her face "hey are all the animals sorted?" she asks "yes are you about to open the shop?" I ask "yes bring over the new eggs shortly and I'll date them and box them for selling" she says I nod "will do love I just want to warn you to be careful about who you talk too" I say thinking of the strange guy that was wondering through the farm. "Okay but why?" she asks "there was a man walking around earlier I don't know who he is but I believe he's up to no good so just be careful of who you talk too and what you say to them" I say she nods "I will" she says before leaning up on her tip toes to kiss me on the cheek. "I'll stop by the shop throughout the day just in case he does come back, I don't want him causing any trouble" I explain "okay" she says giving me a little wave before starting to make her way to the shop.

I enter the house and I'm immediately greeted by Missy "hey girl it's just me" I say gently petting her head as she sits and paws at my pants. "Do you want to go out?" I ask looking down at her and her ears stick up as she barks and wags her tail "okay just don't go too far and don't chase the sheep too much, you can do that all you like later on when I go to put them back in the stables" I say giving her a serious look and she barks making me chuckle as she starts pawing at my pants again. I open the door for her and she legs it out the door, immediately running over to the sheep enclosure and barking at them. 'Tap, tap, thumb, tap, tap, thumb' I chuckle as I hear Teddy approaching until I see his little head pop out from the dining room with his big beady eyes peering at me  "do you want to go out too bud?" I ask as he slowly comes out the dining room. He sits tilting his head and whining "bud your mummy's just outside" I say chuckling as he starts pegging over to me and he stops as he nears me before running out the door in search of his mother.

I head into the kitchen and start giving the eggs a quick clean, today I got nine eggs from the hens and six eggs from the ducks. Once the eggs are clean I place them in a clean basket making sure to keep them separate so there's no mix up.

I cover the eggs and exit the house, closing the door behind me as I make my way over to the shop. I watch as Missy and Teddy play around on the field, occasionally attempting to chase the sheep but they can't get to them because of enclosure keeps them out so they move their attention to the chickens who are walking around. A chuckle leaves my lip as I watch Teddy stalk and crawl towards one of the hens before trying to pounce on it only for the Cockerell to charge over and attempt to peck him but fails as Missy growls making the Cockerell back down "behave" I say giving both the dogs a look before I open the door to the shop and walk in.

I smile as I see Davina stood at the counter talking to one of our regular customers, Brenda and Joe a happy old couple who are in their mid 70's and life not far from us. "Ah good morning Mr Mikaelson" Joe greets me as he slings a brown sack over his shoulder as Brenda hands Davina some money "good morning Joe, how's the grandkids?" I ask casually I always talk to our customers if I have time too as it leaves a good impression and its good to know you're customers. "Fine little Jerry Jr has been keeping his parents up all night as he's teething" Joe explains "oh we know the feeling Charlie's started teething and he's often awake alot during the night" Davina   says jumping in to the conversation as Brenda moves to her husbands side. "Oh bless him well have a good day" Brenda says as she hooks her arm through Joe's "you too Brenda" Davina replies waving to the couple as they leave the shop. "First customers of the day?" I ask as I approach her and placing the basket of eggs on the counter "yes" she says as she pulls the basket towards her and oulls out some boxes for the eggs. "So many eggs did you find today?" she asks looking through the eggs, inspecting them "there's nine hen eggs and six duck eggs" I say she nods and starts writing the date on the chalkboard. We always place the date the eggs were laid and when they expire on the chalkboard and we make sure we know which eggs should be sold first as they go at the front and the newer eggs go at the back.

"So where's my little man?" I ask looking around for my son "he's in the backroom sleeping" she replies pointing to the door behind her. I walk round the counter and head into the backroom to see my son. I walk over to his little moses basket and look down at him with a smile on my face as I see he's fast asleep with his little hands clenched up into fists and he's clinging onto his teddy bear that I bought him when he was born. I quietly leave the room before I wake him up as he seems to have this way of knowing when someone's nearby and he wakes up and I can't wake him as it will disrupt his routine.

"Right I'm going to get back to work I'll pop by to see you later love" I say to Davina giving her a kiss on the cheek "okay" she says getting back to what she was currently doing.

I leave the shop and walk over to Missy and Teddy who are just lying around on the grass "okay you two time to go back inside for a bit" I say whistling to get their attention and they run over to the house. I follow after them and open the door to let them inside the house, once they're inside I shut the door and start heading to Maddox's stable.

Meanwhile

No one's pov

The man that had been wondering around Kol and Davina's farm was walking to a carriage. The carriage opened and he got in, closing the carriage door as he took a seat. "So did you find him?" A woman asked who was sat across from the man "yes and he owns a farm with his wife" the man explained the woman smiled a little bit "he's married?" she asks the man "yes he seems to be happy and is doing well although he comes across as very sceptical and suspicious, he didn't like seeing a stranger on his property and he was suspicious of me asking questions and he got a bit protective when I asked of his wife" the man explained "well at least he's happy and safe that's all that matters. I can go home and tell my husband that our son is mature and very grown up now" the woman replied with a smile on her face. "Why did you seek to find your son now after five years?" the man asked "my husband is on his deathbed and despite the fact we did disown our son for what happened. Me and my husband often wondered how our son was doing and since he's dying he wanted to know if our sons alive and doing okay" the woman explained "will your husband be happy about the result?" the man asked "I think he will be proud of how he's managed to pick up his life after we disowned him and that he's working hard and is settled down with someone" the woman answered the man nodded. "Well Mrs Mikaelson we should head back your husband is due to take his medicine in the next hour and a half" the man said "yes we should" Esther replied before calling to the driver of the carriage and ordering him to start moving.

Uh oh it was Esther who sent that man. Mikael's dying. His parents wanted to know he was okay since his father is on his deathbed. Did you expect it to be Esther?
