Kol's pov
"how is she and the baby doing?" Enzo asks as I enter the living room and find him and Bonnie sat on the couch with Rico on their lap "they're both doing good" I say Enzo smiles and moves Rico slightly so he can get up "I hear the baby's a boy" he says "it's true and he's absolutely perfect" I say with a proud smile on my face "that's great news Rico finally has a play mate" he says making me chuckle before bringing me into a hug patting me on the back as he breaks the hug "how does it feel to be a father?" he asks "nerve-wrecking but overall amazing I can't begin to describe how happy I am right now" I say he smiles "congrats mate after everything you've endured in the last few years you deserve this" he says "thanks mate and thanks Bonnie for helping to deliver the baby" I say glancing at Bonnie "you're welcome" she says before turning back to Rico who pats her face. "So have you and Davina named the baby yet?" Enzo asks "yeah we have we named him Charlie" I say "that's a cute name" Bonnie comments "does he have a middle name?" Enzo asks "yeah his middle name is James" I say "Charlie James Mikaelson it has a nice ring to it" he says "yeah it does, Davina came up with the name" I say "she chose correctly" Bonnie says "didn't you have any boy names in mind?" Enzo asks "no actually I had only thought of girl names" I say Enzo chuckles "typical Enzo was the same" Bonnie says playfully rolling her eyes. "I wanted a girl so I picked out girl names only" Enzo says making me chuckle "and if it weren't for me our son would've probably ended up with the name Casey" Bonnie retorts with a smile making us chuckle "Casey's a nice name we can name our daughter that if we have one" Enzo jokes as Bonnie glares at him "well I'm going to head back to my wife and newborn son and see how they're doing in the meantime please try not to make any babies on my couch" I say noticing them give each other a look I know too well "no promises" Enzo jokes making me chuckle as I walk away.
As I enter the bedroom I see that Davina has finished feeding Charlie and is just holding him in her arms humming a song "hey" I say causing her to look up "hey" she whispers as I approach them "is he asleep?" I ask she nods "he fell asleep right after I fed him" she says "pass him to me and I'll put him in his crib over there" I say nodding to the crib in the corner, we decided that for the first few months of the baby's life we'll have him sleep in our room just while we adjust to parenthood and incase of any troubles.
Once Davina has given him to me I immediately feel my heartstrings pull as I feel how light he is and I suddenly realise that this is my first time holding him and he feels smaller than he looks. "oh wow" I mutter to myself as tears fill my eyes "what is it Kol?" Davina asks concerned "this is my first time holding him" I say holding him securely in my arms when he shifts a little "he's so light" I say a tear strolling down my face as I look at him sure I looked at him once he was born and in Davina's arms but now that he's in my arms it suddenly feels all the more real and I can really look at him I can already see Davina in him but I can also see myself in him "you're my son" I say lifting him up to press a kiss on his forehead "I love you" I say sniffling with tears rolling down my face but the smile on my face never leaves as I continue to look at him.
I finally place him in his crib after I had my 'this is real I'm a father' moment and I turn to Davina "come on love let's get you cleaned up I'll get some clean sheets and covers" I say walking over to her and helping her up as she's still weak from giving birth "okay" she says holding my hand as I lead her to the draws. "put this on while I sort you a bath" I say handing her a nightgown she nods and slowly removes her dress with my help and slips the nightgown on "okay go sit down until I call for you" I say leaning down to kiss her forehead she nods and starts making her way over to the chair that's by the bed.
I head to the bathroom to start sorting out a bath for her which will take a while but I'll just use my magic to speed up the process so I can get Davina in the bath and get her cleaned and relaxed.
