THAT SAME DAY, she had left him without another word. Neither did a word escape from his lips, because he just didn't know what to say. She had walked out, just like she would walk out of his life. Or at least that's what she intended on doing so.Not once in her life had she ever felt so conflicted as she did right now. Her mind kept replaying their conversation, and it just kept reminding her that not even the person who she loved the most, cared for her. Just not enough.
Paulo hadn't gone after her, and it had taken every ounce of strength in his body to not go after her and beg for another chance. He didn't go after her to try and apologize. No matter how much he could apologize- an apology wasn't enough for all the damage he had caused her heart. Nothing would ever be enough to fix her broken heart.
Maybe what she needed was an apology from him, but what she needed the most was for him to stay out of her life because Paulo was not what she needed.
He needed to let her go, once and for all, because he had caused her enough destruction. He had destroyed the perfect world that she used to dream of having with him. Paulo had caused her enough heartbreak for an entire lifetime.
There was a part, actually all of him that needed her. That wanted her to come back to him. But he would do her no good by continuing to stay in her life. He wasn't doing this from himself- because if he was, he would be selfish and try to return to her.
He was doing this for her. She deserved better than anything he could ever be, and all he felt he was good at was causing her pain, and she didn't deserve that.
He knew he deserved to feel hurt, to feel so heartbroken and so empty all at once. He deserved everything she had said to him because, he had never treated her the way she deserved to be treated. What meant he even deserved another chance? Or all the chances she had given him previously?
The truth was that he didn't deserve any of them.
Despite how his actions always seemed to show the opposite- he was in love with her. Every terrible moment they had lived through, there was always a beautiful moment that would replace it in his mind.
He thought that he could make up for his mistakes, but yesterday's events had proven that he just couldn't. And that this was probably the end of them, for good.
For every moment they had argued, there was always a moment that would make his heart flutter just by the thought of it.
The times where they would sit together on their balcony, his arm wrapped around her shoulders as they would overlook the city of Turin, at night. The glittering and beautiful stars on display for them, the buildings that surrounded them would light up the city, and so would the cars that would pass by from a distance. Everything was peacefully silent. Nothing would feel more perfect than staring at the beautiful night sky as she heard his heart beat at how close she was to him.
