The boy sat on the bridge of the Raptor behind Ben Solo and Rey of Jakku.
Both skilled Jedi.
Both with different pasts.
One privileged yet abandoned, the other abandoned yet a survivor.
Together, Lucas noticed, the Force shimmered bright.
Despite his youth, when he looked at Rey, he saw a sadness in her eyes. She still felt so alone, he thought. The commander looked equally pained. Their souls were still lost.
He listened to them talk about inconsequential things relating to the ship, or supplies.
After a while, Lucas stood up and walked to the back of the ship. He said he wanted to rest. He needed to have a clear mind when they reached their destination.

He sat down and closed his eyes.
He looked to the past. He felt the minds of the other Jedi youth. In total General Hux had taken 77 children.  Not many given the size of the galaxy, but enough to placate Hux into orchestrating his plan.
Collectively the Jedi were strong, well past what their age would dictate. When they had been scattered throughout the galaxy, they were gifted children, but children all the same. Now they were channeling their thoughts like a hive. And it made them strong, Lucas thought with some pride.

Lucas felt the Force. He looked up to see Luke Skywalker. The Master Jedi who had led him to focus and better himself. It was thanks to this link that he was able to connect with the other Jedi and the path to the light. The first time the Jedi master had appeared he thought he was just having a dream. Now , he had regular training sessions with Skywalker. He sometimes wondered how such things were possible, but only ended up an aching head. In the short time he simply came to accept it. He once again commenced his training.

Back on the bridge...

"What's so special about Lucas. Why him out of all the other children?" Rey asked.
Ben turned, thinking before he answered.
"He can connect to multiple minds. Lucas will help sway the rest of the children back to the light before they destroy each other and themselves. Somehow he is able to learn things, only a Jedi master would know."
Lucas walked in at that precise moment.
They both turned to look at him.
"Master Skywalker says hi", Lucas said simply before seating himself down. The two Jedi looked at him in mild surprise. Ben finally started to understand. The laws that had in the past prevented the Jedi who had returned to the Force after their death, from interfering with the now must have lost its relevance when the darkness rising came from a non Jedi Force manipulating this power.
Rey however was conflicted. She got out of her chair and went out to find some privacy.
"Master Luke", she said. "Please help me. I feel I'm loosing my way."
She waited, thinking he wouldn't appear. It seemed to be her burden- to always wait. Isn't that what she was doing with Ben. Waiting, and for what. He had made his feelings, or lack of, quite clear to her.
"Sometimes you just have to grab the rathtars by the tentacles and slap some sense into them"
"Luke!" Rey stood up. He had appeared. He started to fade again.
"No please, wait, I..." Rey began
"You know what you have to do. You just need to find the courage. If you fear the answer then you have already lost", Luke said and then disappeared.
Rey walked back to the bridge. Along the way she picked up some food rations and handed them out to Ben and Lucas.
As she munched away, she thought back to Luke's words. Not so cryptic this time, but frustrating all the same. As she finished her food, the proximity sensors sounded. They had reached their destination. Yet another far away world. When they landed she found a group of Stormtroopers coming their way. They had their helmets off. It seemed the Rebellion was 'borrowing' more and more equipment from the First Order. Amongst the troopers were Poe as well as Finn and Rose.
Rose quickly took Lucas protectively whilst Finn went to greet Rey. He went in to hug her, but found Solo close on Rey's heals, and thought better of it. Rey turned to find Ben scowling. Really she thought! She was about to say something but Ben walked past her at that moment without another word.
"Umm, I see the mission went well", Finn said.
"Yeah, another nice ride", Poe added walking up to the Raptor. "Now we have two", the First being the one Ben had commandeered when they rescued her and Lucas from Hux. They had more than two Rey thought.

The three made their way to the make shift base. Rey asked where she could freshen up and was directed to some quarters. She just needed to be alone. It seemed that Ben had the same idea. He was in the process of taking off his shirt She and briefly stopped as she entered and closed the door behind her.
