Waiting patiently at the Chinese for my order I huffed out a sigh.

It was getting closer to five o'clock and I hadn't had lunch, Matt probably hadn't ate anything either.

While ten minutes went by, I grew more impatient and restless. Every few minutes, I checked my phone for texts or calls, and checked the time. Anything to occupy myself.

"Order 23."

Upon hearing the grouchy teenager mumble out my number, I grabbed my bag off the counter. I scampered out the shop and mumbled a thanks to the bored and slightly irked boy aggressively chewing gum.

Getting into my car, I smiled to myself and tapped the wheel along to music while I smoothly drove.

Quickly getting more famished as the smell of curry sauce filled my nostrils.

Quicker than it took to make my order, I pulled up in front of the house.

Shuffling through the door with a grunt, I was greeted with the smell of detol and empty silence.

As I pushed the plate onto the table I yelled "Matt! I've brought dinner!" And crashed two plates and cutlery beside the bag.

As I started to cut the bag open, my stomach suddenly fluttered and my eyebrows furrowed.

"Matt?" I yelled up.

I listened quietly for a few minutes.

Slowly placing the scissors onto the table, I stiffly walked to the stared and ran my way to the top.

I checked every room until I found him slumped over the sink.

His back was arched in a grossly uncomfortable way while he leaned heavily on his elbows. His eyes were vacant and hostile that sunk with growing purple crescents as he glowered over his unhealthy greying completion. With heaving breaths shrugged in, his hands trembled and twitched as he fingered his eyeballs and moved onto reddening gums.

My throat had turned painfully scratchy as I watched unseen behind the door line.

Swallowing a mouth full of air, I mustered a small sound.

Coughing loudly I twitched my fingers as the anxiety in the cavern of my stomach thrashed.

"Matt," I mustered shakily, "You don't look well, maybe you should come sit and I'll get you something," I stammered.

His dark eyes twitched in my direction, he gulped twice before opening his mouth to reply, "No...I-I haven't been-" he inhaled loudly, gulped roughly and I watched the air bob down his throat, "-been...been able to keep blood..." His eyes twitched and his head turned towards his neck as his eyes hitched on my racing pulse. "Blood down, I'm thirsty." His nostrils flared as is beastly black eyes dilated in size.

"So thirsty." He continued, jaw twitching and his teeth crunched together and he scrapped them left and right.

With the uneasy feeling thrashing in my stomach, I ignored it and stupidly took a step in his direction, offering my hand.

"Matt, let's go get a blood bag, maybe you can-" I screeched as his hand shot up, he held my thumb and palm tightly in his grasp. A strangled breath vaporised into my other hand that cradled my mouth.

With one long pale finger, he dragged it down my arm very slowly with his nail.

"Your pulse," he laughed, "Its racing, like a frightened hare..."

His hand tightened, "Run run little rabbit..." He whispered to himself "Just run..."

There was minutes of silence before his eyes stared into mine, and trembled.
