A Little Different ~ Bughead

Chapter 5

Betty POV

Me and Jughead were lay in his bed facing one another.

"Jug?"

"Yeah?"

"Why don't you tell people? About your leg I mean?"

"Uh I guess I just don't want to be viewed as more of a weirdo. It's kind of just a insecurity of mine I guess."

"I hope you don't mind me asking but what happened?"

"It's ok it's a pretty normal thing to ask. When I was uh born my right leg.... the bones for like my knee and ankle went developed probably so I couldn't move them so my knee was at 90 degree angle the same for my ankle so my leg was in a Z kind of shape. So when I was about 2 years old my parents decided that amputation was the best solution you know to give me the best chance in life."

"Do you ever wish they hadn't amputated your leg and just left it how it was?" He smiles at me and shook his head

"No. If they left it how it was then I'd never be able to walk. You should have seen me when I got my first prosthetic I was just about able to talk and once I leaned to walk I would run I used to think I could go so fast I thought I was a superhero." He said smiling I smiled back at him.

"Is that why you don't do gym in school?"

"Ye. In Gym you either do football, run or climb ropes and stuff. And I can't really climb ropes and the others mean I have to run and although I can run with my normal leg it's not very comfortable so I have to wear a blade."

"You have a running blade?" I said smiling

"Yeah I have 3 different legs one for every day my running blade and one I can use at the beach because the sea water and sand will ruin the others. I usually go run at like 3am so like no one is awake."

"Jug you shouldn't be embarrassed of yourself. Your amazing." I said leaning forward and kissing him softly

"Thanks Betts." He said smiling at me

"What are we Betts?"

"I'm not sure."

"Well then. Betty Cooper would you like to go on a date with me at Pop's at 7:00?"

"Yes." I said smiling at him

"Ok then."

"I'm going to go get changed into some clean clothes I'll meet you at Pop's." I said getting up.

"I'll see you later." Jughead said as I walked out the door

I got changed then walked to Pop's. It was 6:55 so I decided to order me and Jug some food so it should be here when Jughead dose. The waitress came over and asked for my order.

"Can I have one chocolate milkshake one vanilla milkshake and two cheeseburgers and one fries please."

"Ok you food should be out soon." She said smiling then she walked away a few minutes later Jughead walked in. He smiled at me and sat across from me.

"Hey."

"Hi I ordered your usual."

"Thanks." He said smiling

We talked for a little bit till the food and milkshakes came. We ate our food and drank out milkshakes. When we were done we were just sat talking.

"Can I sit next to you?"

"Yeah sure. You don't have to ask." He said smiling and stood up and walked round to Jugheads did he put his arm along the back of the booth and I rested my head on his said as I scooted close to him.

"Hey Jug?"

"Mmm?" He said putting his arm round me and placing his head on mine and twiddling with my hair with the hand that was round me.

"Where's you dad and sister I haven't seen them today?"

"Oh uh they went to see my Mom in Toledo."

"Oh."

"She moves out like 7 months ago her and my dad got into a huge fight so she went to stay with our grandparents for a while. They talk in the phone because there trying to work it out but last time they talked she said she wanted us all to come down and see her."

"So why didn't you go?"

"Same way I got out of school for 3 days to try think."

"And how is that?"

"Pain."

"What?"

"It's simple you see my nerves in my leg can get trapped and it causes a lot of pain which makes it hard to walk with my prosthetic which means I'll refuse to go to school and my dad's given up the fight of making trying to make me go to school with out my prosthetic so he lets me stay home?"

"And he believes you?"

"Well yeah all I have to do is put my prosthetic in my closet and walk round with my crutches." He said smiling I laughed at him and smiled.

"What do you want to do know it's only 9:00pm?"

"We could go back to my place and watch a movie and maybe popcorn?"

"Yeah that sounds great."

"Well get some milkshakes to go and we could drink them on the way home."

Jughead got up and ordered a chocolate milkshake and a vanilla milkshake for me. We got the milkshakes in styrofoam cups and walked out of Pop's once we got out of Pop's car park Jughead reached and held my hand and intertwined our fingers as we walked and we talked.

Once we got to Jugheads he unlocked the door and then we threw our cups in the trash. Jughead walked into the kitchen and I followed him I sat on the island in the kitchen why Jughead put some popcorn in the microwave then he walked over to me and stood in between my leaf and placed his hands on my sides.

"So did you like the date?"

"Yeah. Thank you Juggie."

"Your welcome. I'm sorry it wasn't very romantic like at a fancy restaurant or anything."

"It's ok. I don't really like fancy restaurants that much. I like Pop's eating takeout, watching movies and eating popcorn."

"Well I'll keep that in mind." He said smiling then I leaned down and kissed him softly then we were infatuated by the sound of the microwave beeping. We pulled away and I jumped of the side and Jughead put the popcorn in a bowl.

"Come on . We can watch TV upstairs." He said grabbing my hand and the bowl and walking upstairs with me.

We went into Jugheads room he went into the bathroom and got changed and came out in a new tshirt and basketball shorts then we lay on his bed and he rested the bowl of popcorn in between us why I walk on his chest and he turned on the TV.

Jellybean POV

Me and my dad came back with my mom as she's moving back in with us! My dad told me to go get Jughead so he could talk to him. I walked upstairs and didn't bother knocking on his door and just walked in. When I walked in I saw him laying on his bed in a tshirt and basketball shorts with Betty laying on his bicep and Jughead had his head rested on hers. He had shorts on so you could see his prosthetic leg which obviously meant he told Betty about his leg which I was a little shocked at as he's only known her a week and it usually takes along time for him to open up I pulled out my phone and text my dad.

JB👾: Come upstairs and bring mom but me quiet.

Dad🐍: Why?

JB👾: Jug come up and look at Jug.

I said them a few minutes later my dad and mom walked upstairs and over to me.

"What's up JB?" I just pointed in Jugheads room and he looked into Jugheads room and so did my mom and they both smiled.

"Ahh. Young love." My mom whispered

"He seems happy." My dad said smiling and I shut Jugheads bedroom door and we all walked downstairs.
