A Little Different ~ Bughead

Chapter 30

Betty POV

The day started like any other I got ready for school then went down stairs and went to get breakfast. I walked down stairs and saw my mom sat down eating her breakfast why my dad was sat reading his newspaper and drinking his coffee with Polly sat eating looking half asleep and I figured Chic was probably still in bed as he worked nights last night.

"Morning" I said as I picked up a pice of toast and started to eat it.

"Morning Betty. There's a letter in the side for you it came this morning." My mom said and she gestured to the side where there where a few letters. I walked over and looked threw the letters till I found mine. It was a little heavy. I ripped the letter open and took the paper out and started to read it.

Dear, Miss Elizabeth Cooper

Miss Cooper we would like to congratulate you on earning your place in our Urban Design and Architecture program.......

As soon as I read that I started jumping up and down.

"I GOT IN!!!" I shouted as I dropped the paper on the side and kept jumping up and down.

"Got into what Betty?" My dad said as he put his coffee down and looking over his paper.

"NYU!!!" I said excitedly.

"I'm so proud of you Betty." My mom said getting up and hugging me.

"Congratulations Betty." My dad said hugging me next.

Then there was a honking sound from our side.

"That's Jug. I'll see you guys later." I said picking up my paper and bag and running outside and jumping into Jugheads car.

"Hey ba....." I cut him off before he could finish by wrapping my arms round his neck and smacking my lips into his and kissing him passionately. When I pulled away Jughead was smiling widely.

"I didn't know you missed me that much even though you saw me yesterday."

"I'm happy. I got in Juggie. I got in!!" I said handing him the paper he read over it and his face dropped for a second then he started to smile.

"Congratulations Betts." He said looking over at me then kissing me. "I'm so proud of you."

"Did you get your letter yet?" I said smiling.

"Uh no. Not yet."

"Maybe you'll get it tomorrow or something." I said still smiling.

"Yeah maybe." He said with a soft smile. Then Jughead went to pick everyone up.

Time skip

It's been about a week since I last saw Jughead. He bailed on the sleep over at Veronica's and said something came up but then after that he wasn't coming to school and he wasn't going to football practice and he didn't go to the game that was tonight. I've only spoke to him a hand full of times and he texts sometimes at night and that's about it. I was getting worried but when I asked him if he was ok he said he was fine.

It's Friday night and I decided to go a check if Jughead was ok. So I went downstairs and borrowed Chics car and drive to Sunnyside trailer park. When I got there I parked in front of Jugheads trailer next to where his jeep was parked. I got out off the car and walked up to his door and knocked. After a couple of seconds the door opened and there was Jughead wearing blue overalls that where tied around his waist and I tight white tank top his hair was all messy and he was holding a beer bottle in his hand that he was obviously drinking from.

"Betty?" He said in a husky voice.

"Hey Jug."

"Whwhat are you doing here?"

"I came to make sure you where ok. Can I come in?"

"Shit sorry yeah yeah come in." He said standing aside and letting me in I walked in and Jughead shut the door behind me. I turned around and Jughead put his beer on the side and then looked at me.

"Did you take the bus here?"

"No I borrowed Chics car."

"Oh ok."

"What's the matter Jug you haven't been to school in a week you haven't been to football practice or the game. So what's wrong?"

"Nothing I just uh got a job so I've been working a lot lately."

"A job? Where? Why?"

"At the auto shop not far from here. Pulse I thought it would be a good time to start saving."

"Saving for what?"

"Your dream."

"Jug....we have years before that you don't need to work we still have college to go threw first." I said with a sigh and I walked closer to him and put my hand on his cheek and caressed it softly with my thumb.

"You have college."

"What?" I said confused.

"Betty I wanted to wait to tell you this because I didn't want to ruin us especially since we only have about 3 weeks left before we graduate.....I'm not going to college I'm staying here."

"What? Jug is this is about you not getting your acceptance letter yet then you don't need to worry you'll get it Juggie I know you will." I said and Jughead pushed my hand off of his face and held it.

"Betts I did get my letter......"

"See I knew you would! So why aren't you going I mean if you........" but then he cut me off.

"No Betts I got my letter from NYU....but it wasn't and except letter it was a letter telling me they could couldn't give me a full scholarship for for my photography. I can't go to college if it's not on a full scholarship my parents don't have any savings they spent it all on my medical bills as a kid and my prescriptions aren't cheep."

"What so because your not going to college you want to break up with me in 3 weeks we can do long distance Jug."

"Betts. I want you to go to college and have the full experience and being with me won't let you have that."

"So you do even want to try long distance and see how it goes?"

"Betty your going to be in college for 3 years. You'll be 21 when you leave you won't want to do long distance for 3 years. It's not worth it if it's with me there's better guys out there."

"You don't know that. I want to try long distance. Especially with you."

"Betts you could meet so many amazing guys that would be lucky to have you. You'll find someone better than me why your at college and I don't want to to feel bad when you have to break up with me over the phone because you like this guy more than me."

"I will never find someone I love more than you Juggie." I said tearing up more.

"You might not. But if you don't find someone why your at college and why I'm here I'll wait for you unless you tell me you find someone else. I'll be here waiting."

"I don't want to go then." I said as tears started to flow down my cheeks.

"Betts you have to. I can't be the reason you give up this opportunity."

"But I don't want to lose you."

"You won't my heart will always be yours Betty Cooper you'll never lose me your just take a opportunity as try new experiences and in the mean time I'll be here setting up your dream."

"Come to school then go to football practice and play the games. Because if you want break up with me in 3 weeks then I want to see you every day and I want to see you at your games and I want to spend my birthday with you next week. Please." I said as more tears fell down my face.

"Anything Betts. Anything for you." He said as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest as I cried.
