Chpt 24 - No Fear

"Sky?"

"Yes, Aza?"

She steps slowly towards him, carrying his sword gently in her hands. Adam takes it with a weak smile.

"Thanks." He says quietly. He glances back at the mirror, staring at himself in full enchanted butter armour. He frowns.

Adam's reflection is joined by Azalea's, smiling sweetly as she places a hand carefully on his shoulder. Adam smiles, turning his head towards Azalea.

"Are you ready?" Azalea whispers.

"Not quite." Adam replies. He walks over to his desk, putting a hand upon his helmet. With his other hand, he slowly takes off his crown, staring down at it with a crestfallen face. He sighs, laying it on the desk and placing the helmet on his head. Adam turns to Azalea again as she tilts her head on the side with a sympathetic expression.

"I don't want you to do this." Azalea confesses.

"I have to, Aza." Adam responds.

She looks up and down Adam's armour, wishing there was another way, she nods slightly, knowing that there was no way to reverse what had been done.

"Now." Adam says. He walks towards her, placing his hands on both of her shoulders, "Aza... I... I want you to stay here."

Azalea's eyebrows sink, "What? Why?"

"I don't want you to fight. I don't want you to risk your life."

"No. I want to help, I-"

"No." Adam says sternly, cutting her off, "If the squids win, you'll be the only thing this kingdom's got. I can't risk losing you."

"But you're gonna need all the help you can get. You know I can fight."

"No! Aza!" Adam raises his voice slightly, he looks down, "I promised Mitch I would keep you safe."

"Mitch?" Azalea questions.

"Yes." Adam whispers, "Just... stay here. This isn't your fight, and I don't want you getting involved."

Azalea felt like fighting back, she clenched her fists, her jaw clammed. But then she had second thoughts, she still didn't think Adam was right, but she knew that she wasn't going to win this argument. Azalea sighs, "Alright. Fine."

"Good." Adam responds. He walks away, "I've gotta go. My people need me."

"A-Adam?"

Adam pauses, it suddenly occurred to him that that was the first time Azalea had called him by his real world name in years. He turns around slowly, "Yes... Aza?"

"I might not ever get the chance to say this again." Azalea walks towards him, "But... I... I l-love... you."

Adam furrows his brow, "Aza... I..." Adam lays a hand on her cheek, "I love you too." He smiles.

Azalea smiles back.

Adam places his fingertips under Azalea's chin and leans forward. He whispers, "And you'll always be my queen."

Azalea could feel Adam's cold helmet on her forehead as he presses his lips on hers. She wished he could stay a little longer, but Adam soon had to draw away with a sad frown. He backs out the door, "Goodbye, Azalea."

"Farewell." She replies weakly.

Adam walks away, disappearing down the lengthy corridor. The last thing Azalea sees is Adam's royal blue cape flowing behind him as he journeys to war.

Adam halts his ebony black stallion, around 25 blocks from the Great Lake. He stares out at the body of water ahead of him, the grey and murky waters beginning to stir.

Behind Adam stood Team Crafted, their special Team Crafted mod swords at the ready. Behind them stood the Sky Army. It had suffered badly since the last fall of the Sky Kingdom, so the numbers were small.

"Adam." Ty calls him.

"What?" Adam replies down to him from his horse.

"Who... or rather what... are we fighting? Squids can't exactly travel on land."

Adam opens his mouth to respond, but no sound escapes. He leans away from Ty, staring straight ahead.

Something begins to manifest itself in the distance just in front of the lake. Black smoke pours from nowhere, eventually surrounding the whole battlefield.

"SkyDoesMinecraft." Herobrine's voice rumbles through the earth, making the ground shake and the Sky Army tremble.

Adam grips his horse’s reins tighter, his fingers starting to shudder with anxiousness. He turns to his friends, beckoning them to stay put as he ordered his horse to step forward.

It whinnied in fear, not budging even a centimetre, “Come on.” Adam whispers, “We’ve got to do this.”

The horse steps forward hesitantly, eventually advancing in a slight trot as they approached Herobrine and Shadow.

“Herobrine.” Adam says with false confidence, “You still have a chance to turn back. What happens today will be your doing, and you will regret this.”

Herobrine tilts his body on an angle to peek around Adam’s horse, getting a look at his forces. Herobrine smiles, “I really don’t think that turning back will be necessary today. I’m not running away this time, I am going to finish what I started.”

Adam gulps, glancing at the water behind Herobrine, “Oh yeah?” Adam responds with a shaky voice, “With you and what army?”

Herobrine stares up at Adam and grins, he spreads his arms and his body begins to rise off the ground, his hands beginning to glow an evil shade of violet.

Adam’s horse steps back about 5 blocks in fear as Herobrine continued to rise, “This army!” Herobrine bellows, his voice echoing around the surrounding area.

Adam goes wide eyed as hundreds of mobs started to spawn from nowhere all around him; Zombies, Skeletons, Creepers, Spiders, Zombie Pigmen, Wither Skeletons, you name it.

Adam’s horse screams in terror, galloping away, leaving Adam behind as he topples off from the sudden burst of G-force.

“You wuss!”

“Ha-ha-ha!” Herobrine laughs, “Let the battle begin!”

Adam rushes to his feet and draws his sword, slashing enemy mobs left and right.

Zachary leads the Sky Army forward, they advance, eventually hitting the wall of hostile mobs. The Sky Army start to attack, limbs of dead enemies flying everywhere before they dissipate into dust.

“Have no fear!” Zachary yells over the fighting, “Victory shall be ours!”
