Roman (Ch.5)

"What's today's date?" A was looking over Lucas' shoulder, while Lucas was watching the monitors

"Seriously A? Why do you never know these thing's?" He just shrugged and smiled. "It's October 31st." 

"It's Halloween?! And we're just sitting here on our asses? We should be out getting there getting candy!" A started jumping up and down like a kid on a sugar rush. How old is he anyway?

"A, you know as well as I do that it's not safe. There are Onyx members all over the place and one wrong move..."

"But it's Halloween..." He stopped and looked out of the window. "Right, sorry."

Virgil loved Halloween too. He worse than a kid on Christmas, actually he was worse than Patton on Christmas. Looking over at A, he just looked down. He moved away from the window and Ember brushed against him. You know I've never seen such a friendly dragon. I've fought many dragons but none were... It's almost an if A is her father. I wonder how they met?

"Don't even bother." I turned to see Lucas staring at me. "You were staring at Ember. Don't know what you thinking about but... He will kill anyone that tries to hurt her. And the same can be said can be said for her."

"I was just wondering how they met." I looked back over to Ember who was burning the floor to make it comfortable for her. She laid down she looked over at A, who laid down with his head resting on her. They are really close, maybe even closer than Virgil was with Bast. I wonder how Bast is doing. She went her own around the same time Patton and Logan did. I wonder if everyone's still ok.

"He had her since she was an egg. I'm not sure how he got her though we only met him about 2... maybe 3 years ago. It was before things got bad. He looked horrible..."

"Hey, I heard that..." A opened his eyes and scowled at us. I just laughed and walked over to the two of them. I put my hand up to Embers nose. She sniffed and then licked my hand. I laughed again, petting her nose softly as I did. A looks over at Ember and frowns "...traitor."

"You know for someone who hates the guy, you sure do remind me a lot about him." He just sat up and looked at his hands.

"I never said I hated the guy. I just said I couldn't forgive him. I was just pissed." I watched as he started to shake.

"Hey, are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm just really cold." Ember picked her head up and blew flames at A. I freaked out and jumped back. I got very worried until I saw A acting like nothing was wrong. " Ember... What did I say about spitting fire inside?" 

"How?" A looked back up at me completely unburnt. He put his hand in the air and snapped. It sparked and then ignited until flames covered his whole hand. He then smiled widely... It was kinda cute.

"I'm a bit hot-headed." Oh my god, Patton is that you... I burst out laughing. I haven't heard a damn pun in years. It was nice.

"It's like you're your own dragon." His eyes darkened for a split second. What was that about?

"A... We have a slight problem." A jumped up and ran over to the monitor, where Lucas was frantically typing away. I'm an action kind of guy, Logan 's the tech guy. I have no idea whats going on.

"Why are they all still here?" A started to get very anxious looking and if it wasn't for his red hair and blue eyes I would have said he was Virgil... But that's impossible.

"I don't know... I'm jamming their servers but they aren't.."

"Damn it! They haven't left because you're still using the static jammer instead of the trace jammer. I told you that you need to upgrade." Ok, they lost me again.

"Not all your visions are correct you know."

"THAT WASN'T A VISION THAT WAS COMMON SENSE. All the static jammer does is cause their stuff video to go static... Why do you think I call it that? If their stuff just out of nowhere gets nothing but white noise, they're going to know somethings up."

"So what do we do." A got that pained expression again. He started pacing. "A what are we..."

"SHHH!!!" He held his head and then a second later he stopped and stared at the door.

"I'm lost, what is going on?" I asked as I walked a little closer to him.

"Shh..." He places his finger to his lips and signals Deceit to come over. He walked up to the door and closed his eyes. When he opened them again they were glowing a slight lavender.

"What the fuck is that?!" Someone yelled outside the door and then there was nothing but gunshots. A just stood in front of the door oblivious to everything, he hasn't even blinked. It was creepy. Next thing I know A had me by the arm and was dragging me out of the room. I looked back to see everyone following me, a tiny dragon rest on my shoulder. I didn't even know dragons could shrink.

I glanced at the two men firing their weapons. They had no idea we were even here. They were focused solely on the monster they were fighting. I had to be honest, it looked like a nightmare.
