"Don't move!" I froze. It's been weeks. I've been attacked by animals. Hunted by people who don't even know me. I am not in the mood to be in another situation. I've broken and beaten, covered in cuts and scars. It's all just adding to ones I already had. I'm tired of all this running. I just want to get back home. I took a step back and a gun fired. The bullet cut my cheek but nothing else was hurt. "I said don't move."

"Sorry..." My voice cracked and I started shaking. This was getting to me. I put my hands up and stayed a still as I could. A women came out of this rundown building that I was hoping to sleep in for the night. I didn't know it was already occupied. I feel like I'm in the post-apocalypse. I might as well have been with everything I went through. She was dark colored in the skin and had very long black hair. She was thin but fit, and slightly smaller in height than me. She was wearing nothing but a pure black sports bra and short shorts, weapon holsters at her forearm, hip, and leg. It really was like I was in the post-apocalypse. It's like I jumped from a world of witches and magic, right into a world of war. It's scared the shit out of me. She walked until she was right in front of me, and I absentmindedly pushed my bag behind me. "What was that about?"

"Nothing..." She frowned and soon I was being held back by to other men who came out of nowhere She took the back and held it up to me. "DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE TOUCH IT!" The men reeled back as my arms burst into flames. I ran forward trying to grab my bag but stopped short as another bullet grazed my cheek. The woman just stood there, gun in hand pointing right at me. She tossed my bag in the air and jumped, catching it before it could hit the ground. She narrowed her eyes and cocked her gun.

"Show me what's in there." I held the bag close and took a deep breath. "I'm only letting you do it because I'd rather not shoot another witch. However..." She straightened her arm and pointed her gun at my heart. "I won't hesitate."

"It's... an egg." She raised an eyebrow and I set the bag on the ground. I opened it and pulled out the egg that I found weeks ago. She dropped her hand for a bit, before doing something with her gun and putting it back into one of the holsters.

"You have a dragon's egg?" A dragon egg. I looked down at it and smiled. Of I would find a fucking dragon egg. Out of everyone, it was me... I put it back into my bag and put the bag over my shoulder. The woman just stared at me. I was so sore. A few of my cuts had reopened during the small skirmish and it wasn't fun. "Sorry about all that?" I looked back at her and she was smiling, holding a hand out to me to take. "With all those witches getting attacked I had to make sure. I have people I have to protect. I'm the boss of this place. You can call me Sarah or boss, either is fine. You got a name?"

I shook my head and took her hand. She smiled and glanced down at my wrist, turning it slightly to see the mark on my inside wrist. It was a little cloud with a lightning bolt, an A placed on top. She looked back and smiled again.

"Guess I'll call you A then. Welcome to the refuge."
